La Goulue New York Introduce
La Goulue New York is an institution on the Upper East Side, and for good reason. This French bistro, with its classic Parisian décor and vibrant atmosphere, has been a favorite among New Yorkers for decades. The restaurant’s name, "La Goulue," or "The Glutton," pays homage to Louise Weber, the famous can-can dancer from the Moulin Rouge, and the restaurant embodies that same spirited, lively energy. Since its revival, the space has retained its original elegant charm with dark woods, large mirrors, and a timeless feel that transports you to a classic Parisian brasserie without ever leaving the city.
The culinary philosophy at La Goulue is rooted in tradition, focusing on classic French bistro fare prepared with meticulous care. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, from the hearty and comforting Soupe à l’Oignon Gratinée to the elegant Steak au Poivre. These are the dishes that have made the restaurant a beloved fixture of the neighborhood. The menu also features other French staples such as Blanquette de Veau and Loup de Mer, all prepared with an authentic touch. For dessert, the Tarte Tatin and Ile Flottante are fan favorites that provide a perfect, sweet ending to any meal.
In a surprising but welcome twist, the restaurant also features a sushi menu. While a French bistro offering Japanese-inspired rolls might seem unconventional, customers have praised the quality and freshness of these dishes. This unique combination of classic French and modern Japanese cuisine offers an intriguing dining experience that stands out from other French restaurants in the city. The drinks menu is equally impressive, with a great selection of cocktails, beer, and a particularly well-curated wine list that perfectly complements the menu's offerings. The bar is a popular spot for a late-night drink, adding to the restaurant's allure as a multi-faceted destination.
The atmosphere at La Goulue is a perfect blend of cozy, romantic, and upscale. It’s an ideal setting for a variety of occasions, whether it's an intimate dinner for two, a business lunch, or a lively gathering with friends. The service is often highlighted in customer reviews, with staff described as attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The combination of classic food, a sophisticated setting, and impeccable service makes for a truly memorable dining experience. The restaurant's popularity means that reservations are recommended, especially for peak dining times, to ensure a seamless experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1La Goulue is a beautiful French restaurant in New York with an elegant atmosphere and great service. I was pleasantly surprised by the sushi,it was fresh, light, and perfectly prepared. The lobster salad was also excellent, full of flavor and presented beautifully. A wonderful spot to enjoy a mix of classic French dishes with some unexpected but very well-done.
August 22 · John GonsalvesHOW TO GET IN: I did a walk in at 8 pm on a Saturday and did not have to wait. The service is good and the food is good too, we had French onion soup and tried the soufflé. They were satisfying, and we did a walk in and were seating promptly. The manager was very nice and gracious and greeted us and made sure we were doing okay. They also have shows in the back which I think is the best part. I had no idea and saw they had a cabaret. I would for sure come back here for an intimate dinner with the girls. They did a wonderful job with the show especially.
May 16 · Neha LuthraI don’t usually like wasting my time writing bad reviews, I just avoid going back to the same place. That said, the place was cozy and nice, the service was great, and the wine, asparagus, and salad were all very good. However, the steak was the worst I’ve ever had. Honestly, I’d rather pay double the price than be served such low quality meat. It tasted like pre-frozen and was extremely tough to chew.

August 14 · Joseph BethsainaWhile I'm not a huge fan of French Bistro style restaurants, LA Goulue knocks it out of the park in regards to that department. The whole lunch experience today from the food to the service was fantastic! The restaurant was packed, and I see why, I thought the menu options were great. This establishment even serves sushi, and it was, surprisingly, really good. We will definitely be back!
