★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We were originally planning to eat somewhere else but changed plans last minute and ended up at Naro. We didn’t have a reservation, but the host was incredibly kind and managed to seat us anyway, which already made the experience feel special. The food was excellent. Every dish was brought out with a clear explanation of what it was, and the staff was so patient and helpful, even when we had a bunch of questions. They made us feel completely at ease, and it honestly made the whole experience more enjoyable. One of my favorite parts was the dessert. The jasmine dessert was incredible and felt really unique. I also tried the Bokbunja and it was unlike anything I’ve had before, it’s definitely one of my new go-to dessert cravings.Service was top notch, the food was delicious, and the overall vibe felt warm and welcoming. I’d absolutely come back to try more dishes, and next time I’m definitely doing the tasting menu.
August 05 · Varun SrikanthI had an excellent dining experience with my boyfriend here at Naro! We were there for restaurant week. The space is huge and is quiet enough to speak comfortably! Everything we ate was delicious. We were very full afterwards. The Jeju blossom cocktail was light, refreshing, and aesthetically pleasing. I’m a huge fan of yukhoe, so we ordered it a la carte, and their iteration of it absolutely met my standards. Cutting the pear cut into flowers shapes is such a beautiful touch! I could’ve had a second serving. The salmon was outstanding. Juicy, soft slices of fish, marinated to perfection — an absolute delight! My tenderloin was very good and saucy. I do wish it had been paired with a plain rice instead of the mushroom rice, which, while very delicious, had a similar flavor profile to the tenderloin. The mushroom rice was a strong dish on its own and I’d absolutely have it again. My boyfriend’s black cod was AMAZING. The fish came away on his chopsticks in the most perfect flakes. A wonder of modern cuisine. Our waitress told us it was cooked in the oven, but was not dry, not overdone, and was an almost gelatinous perfection. My jasmine frozen dessert was excellent! The strong jasmine taste was the highlight. I wish there had been less of the lemon confit and more of the jasmine ice cream. The Korean twisted donut was good but not very inspiring. They gave us a scoop of sorbet (I forget the flavor) for my birthday, which was very yummy and made me feel special :)I’d come back to eat any of the above items again, or try other items on their menu. The waitress was very nice and easy to chat with. She also gave us space to enjoy the food when appropriate, then answered any questions we had with obvious ease and professionalism. This was a huge highlight for my restaurant week :)
August 19 · jennifghjklWhat a delight it was to dine in here. I would find it hard pressed to think of a meal that was as close to perfect as this one. Absolutely no notes. The service was unpretentious, kind, and run on a military clock. Our plates were taken at the perfect time, every time. Not too soon and most definitely not too late. Our server, and the people that assisted her, didn’t hover - but they were always ever present, makingus feel truly cared for.We went during New York dining week, where three perfectly executed dishes were offered for $60 total, per person. We enjoyed King crab with Pine Nut Dressing, Jellyfish Salad and Yellow Peppers for our first course; Black CodDoenjang Sauce, Hen-Of-The-Woods Mushrooms for our main; and Bokbunja withBlackberry Ice Cream, Soy Sauce Chocolate Cake, Whipped Cream. The first two dishes were breathtaking, honestly. I could not fault them for anything. The final dish was very good, but I wish I would’ve gotten what my companion had, which was the citrus-forward Jasmine dessert. The dish was done perfectly, but this was just a matter of personal taste. This would be a splurge restaurant for some, but what you get, is most certainly what you pay for. I have had similarly priced meals that were not in the same realm of what Naro offers.
August 14 · Bears Eat JapanThe food was okay, but the overall experience fell short of fine dining. The interior felt more casual and didn’t match the upscale pricing. Service was unprofessional — my bill was overcharged, and I had to point it out myself to get it corrected. On top of that, no one said goodbye or even thanked me for coming when I left. Naro feels more like a casual dining spot than a fine dining restaurant in terms of food quality, service, and ambiance. Disappointing for the price.
July 22 · T KNaro lives up to the high standard you can expect from any of Chef JP’s restaurants. I had the tasting menu, and every dish was delicious, beautiful, and creative. The standouts for me were the crab and jellyfish dish (creamy and packed with umami) and the tenderloin with cauliflower purée. The portions were generous — I came in really hungry and left completely full. Service was excellent as well. I highly recommend Naro, especially if you’re a fan of Korean fine dining!
