Omakase Room by Mitsu Introduce
In the bustling and diverse culinary landscape of New York City, certain dining experiences rise above the rest, becoming not just a meal, but a true art form. Omakase Room by Mitsu, a hidden gem nestled in the West Village, offers one such experience. This is not a typical sushi restaurant; it is a serene, intimate sanctuary dedicated to the traditional Japanese concept of "omakase," which translates to "I leave it up to you." Here, the chef is the artist, and the diner is the appreciative audience, embarking on a carefully curated journey of flavors and textures.
The restaurant's focus is on pure, traditional sushi, emphasizing the quality of the fish and the impeccable technique of the chef. The experience is both a performance and a meal, where each piece of nigiri is meticulously prepared and presented one by one, allowing you to savor every single bite at its peak of freshness. As one reviewer noted, "Each serving was an event. Each piece was a feast to be savored quickly as per instructions given by the chef himself." This level of personal attention and respect for the food is what truly sets Omakase Room by Mitsu apart.
The ambiance is a key part of the experience. Descending a staircase into this subterranean space, you are immediately transported from the busy streets of New York into a cozy, trendy, and upscale environment. The centerpiece is an eight-seat hinoki wood counter that wraps around the kitchen, creating a close physical connection between the chef and the guests. This intimate setting allows for a personal rapport with the chef, making the meal feel incredibly special and tailored to your desires.
Omakase Room by Mitsu is discreetly located at the lower level of 14 Christopher St, New York, NY 10014, USA. This address places it in the heart of Greenwich Village, a neighborhood known for its historic charm and vibrant culture. The restaurant’s hidden nature—down a staircase—adds to its exclusive and intimate appeal. It's a discovery for those who are looking for it, and the experience begins the moment you step down.
Given its location, public transportation is the most convenient way to reach the restaurant. It's just a short walk from major subway lines, making it accessible from all over the city. Since the restaurant is located on a lower level and the experience is focused on counter seating, there may be limitations for those with mobility issues. However, the venue has a restroom for guests and accepts a range of payment options, including major credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, making the transaction process smooth and convenient.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Such an amazing and lovely omakase experience. We got the reservation time wrong but the restaurant was so accommodating in our tardiness. It didn’t hamper the experience in any way. The food, service and ambiance were fantastic. Staff were all so warm and welcoming. Highly recommend for an omakase experience!
April 08 · Allison TWe were originally booked at the Omakase Room by Shin in midtown, but our reservations were moved to a later time, which meant we won't make it to the show we were going to see. I was just going to cancel but the manager suggested moving our reservation to this place and she arranged everything for us. This proved serendipitous as this proved to be quite a discovery. The moment we walked down the steps and entered the place, we were greeted warmly by the hostess, shown to our seats, and explained the whole ceremony that is dining omakase. The chef started his magic: slicing, dicing, constructing each piece with adept hands. Each serving was an event. Each piece was a feast to be savored quickly as per instructions given by the chef himself (with a quick pause for pictures, of course). Yes, it was expensive but totally worth it. It lasts about almost 2 hours. There is no rushing through the experience. If you do decide to try this place, remember, be mindful of the taste, textures, and flavor of each morsel. Dare I say, it will be transcendent.
