Rude and discriminatory serviceVisited on July. I came in for a quick meal and asked to switch to a table near an outlet to charge my phone — the place was half empty. The staff’s response? “Someone’s coming for that seat.” No one ever came.What’s worse: just minutes before, they were all smiles and warmth to a group of white customers. The moment they saw I was Asian and alone, their tone shifted — cold, dismissive, and impatient.It’s sad to see this kind of “internalized discrimination” at a Chinese restaurant in NYC. If you're not a big group, white, or tipping extravagantly — don’t expect decent treatment here. I won't be coming back.

The ambiance was nice. Service was quick. I was happy with the shu mai. Pad thai was good. Sweet and sour fish was okay. But I was confused when I ordered chow fan and got a plate of stir fried noodles. I asked the waiter, is chow fan rice? And he said yes. I pointed on the bowl of noodles and asked if this is chow fan? The lady cashier answered yes chow fan is fried rice. That is stir fried RICE noodles then proceeded to speak in chinese to yer colleagues. I felt betrayed. Im not chinese, but Im asian, and I studied in a chinese school. But i dont want to argue with an old chinese lady about chinese food. Maybe its my fault because I didnt ask what chow fan is? I am cultured enough that when I ask for chow fan, i expect fried effin RICE!

Our New Place is bright and spacious. My takeout order took only 15 minutes to come out. The food comparatively is slightly more expensive than other nearby Chinese restaurants, but not significantly better. Although I requested less sauce for the mixed vegetables, there was still quite a bit of sauce in the dish. The house special lo mein (with shrimp, pork and chicken) was a better choice.

I went in and asked if they could make me sesame beef (which they didn't have on the menu) and without any further conversation the server walked away and then returned a few minutes later with fantastic sesame beef. Really quiet and clean place with lots of seating and nice restrooms. The food was fresh and crispy and the rice was really good too. Nice little oasis if you're hot/cold/tired/hungry and the prices are very reasonable.

I ordered the tofu with mixed vegetables (pictured). I requested that the tofu be steamed and come with a brown sauce on the side, for dipping purposes. The vegetables have little taste, but the tasty sauce made up for that. It comes with a choice of white or brown rice.The next time I was there I had their beef with broccoli (pictured). The tender beef had a mild beef flavor that I liked, it was enhanced by the brown sauce. The beef with broccoli ($21.95) comes with a choice of white or brown rice.
