In a city with countless dining options, Pisillo Italian Panini stands out for several reasons that make it a truly worthwhile choice, particularly for those who appreciate quality, authenticity, and value. The restaurant’s reputation is built on its ability to deliver an exceptional experience with a deceptively simple menu.
The most compelling reason to choose Pisillo is the quality and scale of its paninis. A customer notes that the sandwich is so "tasty it's hard not to eat too much of it at one time." The sheer size of the sandwiches, combined with the high-quality, imported ingredients, provides an unbeatable value proposition. For a city known for its high prices, getting a sandwich that can be shared between two people for under $20 is a significant advantage. This value, coupled with the delicious and fresh ingredients, makes it an intelligent choice for a filling lunch that won't break the bank.
Furthermore, the authenticity of the experience is a major draw. Pisillo offers a cultural escape in the middle of a busy workday. The deli-like atmosphere, the staff's friendly demeanor, and the overall focus on Italian tradition create a unique environment that feels both genuine and welcoming. As one reviewer eloquently put it, "Pisillo might be the closest you’ll get to Italy without crossing the Atlantic." This feeling of authenticity is invaluable and contributes to a much more memorable dining experience than a generic chain restaurant. The fact that the restaurant is also women-owned adds another layer of appeal for customers who are conscious about where they spend their money.
While the menu is focused on paninis, the variety of options ensures there is a choice for every palate, including a dedicated vegetarian panini. The consistency of flavor and quality, along with the fast and friendly service, makes Pisillo a reliable and rewarding choice for a quick bite. Ultimately, if you're in New York and looking for an authentic, generously-portioned, and truly delicious Italian sandwich, Pisillo Italian Panini is not just an option—it’s the definitive destination.

July 17 · JoelPisillo might be the closest you’ll get to Italy without crossing the Atlantic. The staff chats in Italian, the deli vibes are charmingly loud and proud, and the sandwiches? Absolutely massive—roughly the size of your forearm, no exaggeration. The dried tomato, the semolina bread, the cheese—each ingredient lands with clarity and purpose, fresh and composed like a well-rehearsed aria. Highly recommended!
May 07 · Yunong ShiUghhhhhh…. One of the most convenient Italian sandwich places in New York City. I walk 10 minutes through thick rain or burning sunlight to get here for my foot and half long brick of a sandwich because that’s how much food they put in these gigantic sandwiches. When I walk back to eat this thing I swear people think I have a broken arm or something because of the way I carry my sandwich looks like I’m in a sling and cast, the white bag covering the stupendous sized sandwich also goes to illustrate the picture for you.
June 10 · Hank PaulsonThis place is a gem. Clean, excellent service and huge portions! They slice the meat to order, house made dressing and amazing quality. I will be craving this. Definitely order #26, the Pisillo. Bonus, they have a fair amount of seating and good music.
March 11 · Eric AltmanI used to go to Subway for "healthy" food around here until I came across Pisillo: what an upgrade. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The bread is amazing, and the portion is humongous. The food in general is fresher than any chain restaurant I tried. I'm glad I gave this place a try and never regret it. A big shout out to the manager (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name).
