The Rice Noodle Cart is a go-to spot for those in search of a quick bite that doesn't compromise on quality. Its popularity for breakfast and lunch speaks to its role as a convenient and reliable option for busy New Yorkers. The casual atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a beloved street vendor—focused on the food and the customer. This spot is also a favorite for solo dining, a testament to its welcoming and straightforward service. It’s a place where you can grab a delicious meal on the go, whether you’re heading to work, exploring the neighborhood, or simply craving something warm and comforting. The dedication of the person running the cart is palpable, and this hard-working spirit contributes to the overall positive experience.
The Rice Noodle Cart is strategically located at the Entrance of East Broadway MTA and Rutgers St, New York, NY 10002, USA. This prime spot makes it incredibly accessible for commuters and residents of the Lower East Side. Being right at a major subway station entrance means it’s an effortless stop for anyone using the subway system. For those who drive, the area offers paid street parking, though finding a spot in this busy part of Manhattan can sometimes be a challenge. Its location is a key part of its appeal, providing a convenient and quick food solution for the fast-paced life of New York City. The bustling sidewalk and the constant flow of people create an authentic and vibrant urban backdrop for your meal.
When it comes to services, the Rice Noodle Cart keeps it simple and focused, specializing in one main service to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Takeout: This is the primary and only service option. Everything is prepared fresh and served in a way that’s easy to eat on the go. This focus on takeout makes it the ideal spot for a quick and no-fuss meal, perfect for the pace of NYC life.
The cart's offerings are centered on satisfying comfort food and quick bites. The star of the show is, of course, the rice noodles, which can be combined with various delicious toppings. These meals are perfect for a satisfying breakfast or a hearty lunch. The food is simple, yet the attention to detail is what makes it exceptional. The use of hoisin sauce and the delightful pairing with ingredients like fish balls create a savory and memorable experience. It’s a no-frills approach to food that prioritizes flavor and customer satisfaction above all else.
While a street cart might seem to offer little in the way of "features," the Rice Noodle Cart has distinct highlights that make it a standout choice for anyone in the area.
- Attention to Detail: Customers rave about the meticulous care taken in preparing the noodles. The use of scissors to create small openings in the noodle sheets ensures that the sauce penetrates every layer, providing a rich and even coating from top to bottom. This small but significant detail elevates the entire dish and shows a true dedication to the craft.
- Authentic Flavors: The food delivers on genuine, comforting flavors. The peanutty hoisin sauce is a particular highlight, providing a perfect balance of sweet and savory that makes the dish irresistible.
- Reasonable Prices: In a city where food can be notoriously expensive, the cart offers excellent value for money. A filling and delicious meal can be had for a very reasonable price, making it accessible to everyone.
- Hard-Working Owner: The dedication and "hustle" of the lady working the cart are frequently mentioned by customers. This commitment to service and quality is a major reason why the cart has built such a loyal following.

Why is the Rice Noodle Cart worth choosing over other options in the city? The answer lies in its authenticity and the quality it delivers despite its humble appearance. The food is a testament to the idea that great things can come in small packages. The meticulous preparation, which ensures every bite is coated in a delicious sauce, is a detail that larger, more commercial establishments often overlook. The noodles are not just a quick meal; they are a small, flavorful escape. The combination of the perfect peanutty hoisin sauce with the soft, delicate rice rolls creates a truly comforting and satisfying experience, especially on a cold day.
Furthermore, the reasonable pricing makes it a fantastic option for a daily meal without breaking the bank. This is a place that feels like a genuine part of the neighborhood, a true hidden gem for those in the know. In a city of endless choices, choosing the Rice Noodle Cart means opting for a guaranteed delicious and authentic taste of New York's vibrant street food culture.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The auntie at this cart pays attention to the details and does not skimp on the sauce, she used a scissor to make small openings in the noodle for the sauce to seep through to the bottom, giving a nice coating of sauce to every part of the noodles instead of letting most of the sauce pile up on top. Prices are reasonable as well!
June 02 · Wikie ThongThe lady working this cart is hustlin hard!I got the fish balls with the ricerolls for $5. Loved the peanutty hoisin sauce. It’s a perfect snack in the freezing cold.
December 05 · Andrew NSHE IS THAT GWORLLLL !! Love her rice noodles (cheong fun). Small menu but she operates from a little cart. But what she does sell, she SELLS and she sells well. I always gets the original rice noodles and fish balls with all her sauces and sesame. You can get it with hot sauce if you want, but I don’t. Such a yummy chinese breakfast that won’t break the bank. Medium size is $5.25. The lady that owns the cart is such a sweet woman and has been at this same spot for YEARS. Come visit, you won’t be let down.FYI: she usually sells out around 2pm or 3pm
May 13 · TammyThis has been a staple in the neighborhood for decades. The food has always been amazing; so much so, that since I've moved from the LES, I've regretted not being able to find anything similar. The woman has provided memories that last for years through those, "Noodles & Fish Balls". She and that cart needs to be cloned and duplicated, possibly as a much needed chain. How can we make this happen? I'll travel from where I am (about 2 hours away) to get me an order right now. Does anyone know her hours/days of operation?
February 22 · Lite SkinLove this cart for rice noodle & fish balls! I’ve been eating her food ever since I was little. Her rice noodles is the best out of all the ones I had. It’s firm and soft. It’s not soggy. She’s cash only. She’s usually there in the morning till she runs out of food. If the weather is bad, she won’t be there. Here’s an update menu prices.
