When faced with the endless sushi options in New York, choosing Sushi 295 Mercer is a decision you won't regret. The primary reason to choose this establishment is the exceptional quality of its fish. While some might find the space small or the price a bit high, the consensus is that the quality of the sashimi and sushi makes it "honestly worth it." Unlike some other places that might have a disappointing ratio of fish to avocado in their rolls, the focus here is on the quality of the fish itself. The small and cozy atmosphere, with a limited number of seats, is perfect for a quiet, intimate meal, especially for solo diners or a date night. It’s a place where you can appreciate the art of sushi-making up close and engage with the friendly staff. The availability of takeout and delivery is also a major plus, allowing you to enjoy the same fantastic quality at home. Whether you're a local who has exhausted the typical sushi spots or a visitor looking for a genuine, no-frills sushi experience, Sushi 295 Mercer is a fantastic option. It’s a place that proves that sometimes, the best things come in small packages, and the focus on core quality can create a truly memorable dining experience that "ruins sushi for you anywhere else."

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ordered the 3 rolls box and while the quality of the fish did taste good and fresh, the avocado to fish ratio was a little heavier than I expected/was used too. The eel & avocado roll was mostly an avocado roll with eel sauce and barely has any fish in it. If I lived here I would maybe give it another chance? But also know there’s better places that wouldn’t let me down!
August 14 · Sabrina HossThis place has ruined sushi for me anywhere else. Super friendly staff who were very open to questions about the food. I think this might have been the most delicious sashimi I've ever had. Expensive but honestly worth itThe space is small but it has a very cozy atmosphere. Only around 4 seats. We dined for 2 so it was perfect for us. Chairs are high, though, so be prepared to climb a little 😅
May 22 · Madison McClain-FrederickStopped by here in March of 2025 with a colleague to grab lunch. Ordered the Sushi Regular option. Sushi was amazing, both the rolls and the nigiri. Service is top notch too. Little place with counter seating only. Highly recommend!
April 24 · Daniel AughenbaughTHE BEST SUSHI IN NYC HANDS DOWN! My favorite takeout and dine-in sushi option. The freshest fish and most delicious homemade spicy mayo. Get the sushi premium and 3 roll box. I also have celiac disease and they are extremely accommodating (they have GF soy sauce). I can't wait until they hopefully expand. Highly recommend!
August 13 · Emily ZeppieriOne of the best sushi I've EVER had!!! Cute little place, they make the food right in front of you, everything is super fresh and tasty. We visited twice, and both times there was no crowd. Friendly and helpful staff, amazing flavors, and such reasonable prices!!! A must-visit!
