Tanoshi Tei Introduce
Tanoshi Tei is a cherished establishment on the Upper East Side, bringing a taste of authentic Japanese comfort food to New Yorkers. With a cozy and casual atmosphere, it provides a warm and inviting space for diners to enjoy a variety of traditional dishes. The restaurant is an offshoot of the highly-regarded Tanoshi Sushi, which is known for its high-quality omakase experience. Tanoshi Tei, however, focuses on a different, more accessible concept, offering a menu centered around bento boxes, donburi bowls, and an array of sushi rolls. This approach makes it an excellent choice for a satisfying and quick meal. It's the kind of place where you can grab a wholesome lunch, a casual dinner, or a comforting meal on your own. The service is known to be efficient and friendly, creating a pleasant dining experience. Customers have praised the quality of the food, noting that it is prepared with care and attention to detail. The packaging for takeout orders is also a highlight, ensuring that the food travels well and remains fresh. While some might find the prices a bit higher than a typical food court, the quality of the ingredients and the authenticity of the flavors are what set Tanoshi Tei apart. It offers a healthier alternative to many other quick-service options, with a focus on fresh fish, well-prepared vegetables, and balanced meals. Whether you're a local seeking a new favorite spot or a visitor looking for an authentic Japanese meal, Tanoshi Tei is a place that delivers on its promise of delicious, high-quality food in a relaxed setting. It's a testament to the fact that you don't need a formal setting to enjoy a truly great meal.
The menu at Tanoshi Tei is both comprehensive and focused, offering a wide range of options while specializing in certain categories. The Bento Boxes are a major draw, providing a complete meal with a main dish, rice, salad, and other side dishes. Popular choices include the classic Chicken Teriyaki Bento, the savory Pork Katsu Bento, and the seafood-focused Salmon Teriyaki Bento. The Donburi (Bowls) section offers another great option, with main dishes served over rice, such as the Beef Donburi and the Eel Donburi. For those who love Japanese curry, the menu features a variety of options, including Chicken Katsu Curry and Pork Katsu Curry, known for their rich and savory flavor. The sushi selection is also a highlight, with a wide array of Sushi Rolls and specialty rolls. From classic Tuna and Salmon Rolls to more unique creations like the Tanoshi Tei Roll and the Royal Crown Roll, there is a roll for every taste. The appetizers section includes staples like Pork Gyoza and Seaweed Salad, as well as more unique dishes like Scallop Trio and Crispy Rice with Uni. For those seeking fresh sashimi, the Assorted Sashimi platter is an excellent choice. The menu also offers a selection of drinks, including sodas and tea. The focus on high-quality ingredients and traditional preparation methods is evident throughout the menu. The options for healthy choices and small plates cater to a wide range of appetites and dietary preferences. For a quick bite or a full meal, the menu provides a variety of satisfying options that are prepared with care and presented beautifully, even in a takeout box. The simple and clear menu makes it easy to find a meal that is both delicious and suitable for your needs, whether you're in the mood for a light meal or something more substantial.

Tanoshi Tei Reviews
omakasebentopork katsuprices
★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1WOW! This place is amazing! I ordered the omakase light $50) and it is some of the best I’ve had. I picked up, but the packaging was great so I’m sure it would transport well. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu!
March 04 · Lucille BrunoI just finished my pork katsu donburi. It was so good and nicely presented. I liked how they put 3 different sides. And the price was also affordable ($13.06) and I didn’t need to wait too long to get the food. I had a bad experience once in here when I dined in before pandemic, but it seems like the service got nicer as well!
December 04 · Sylvia SOrdered omakase delivery during pandemic times and it was terrific! It tasted very fresh, almost as if I were eating it at the restaurant. I was worried because sushi often does not travel well when it is delivered but this was superb and decently affordable as far as omakase goes. I highly recommend it!
February 19 · Milla TDid not get to taste the food. It ended up on the street. Lunch take out I just bought was packaged poorly in a flimsy bag and few doors away from the place bottom of the bag gave up. I had my lunch all over on the street and my clothing. Never had such upsetting and embarrassing experience in my life.Unfortunately, I had no time to go back to the place to show what happened to the food I just purchased (17$). I did not take photo of the mess, so you would need to trust my word. I understand it is important for the business to receive good reviews, but to be fair to the customers is important too. Over all, very upsetting experience
March 26 · El PtWe ordered a Chicken Teriyaki Bento and a Pork Katsu Bento on a Monday for take-out lunch as the inside was packed with dine-in customers. The side dishes were plenty and the main fare tasted great. It was a 10-min wait.
