★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Tartine – Our Forever Favorite in the West VillageSome places feed you more than food—and Tartine is one of those rare, irreplaceable spots.Tucked into the dreamiest little corner of the West Village, Tartine is where my husband and I had our very first date night. It’s where he took me for my first birthday after we met. And later, it’s where we shot part of our wedding photos. Even my husband’s colleagues gifted us wedding anniversary gift card from Tartine ! That’s how personal this place is to us.We’ve been back more times than I can count, and it’s never just about the food (though the food is always good). It’s about the energy, the people, the warmth. The staff are some of the kindest you’ll meet in New York—no pretense, just genuine hospitality. Even though they don’t take reservations, you never feel rushed or forgotten. People wait patiently, because everyone seems to know: it’s worth it.The food? Honest. Generous. Comforting. There’s nothing overly fussy—just really well-made dishes that feel like home. My go-to is the crab cake when it’s available (an underrated gem), and if you’re lucky, the white frosted cheesecake will be on the menu—soft, light, and absolutely dreamy. My husband swears by the burger. The menu changes often enough to keep things exciting, but the soul of it stays the same.In summer, Tartine is extra magical. The leafy West Village corner, the big windows, the sunlight filtering in—it’s the kind of spot you want to sit at for hours with someone you love. But even on a rainy or gloomy day, something about it lifts your mood. It just feels good to be there.Tartine may not be flashy or trendy, but that’s exactly why we love it. It’s one of those truly underrated places that deserves to be cherished—and we’ll keep coming back, again and again💗💗💗
June 25 · ZoeTartine benefits from being in a prime spot within NYC and I think the prices reflect the same. The space is tiny but really well done. Food was good but had limited vegetarian options and they don’t offer substitutions. I should also note that I was here for brunch with friends and a couple of us don’t consume eggs which made it harder.
August 12 · Kartik BharadwajMy friend and I had a great time last night. We ordered baked Brie and tuna tartare paired with couple of wine. Not to mention the delicious dessert in the end. The service was fantastic too. Definitely will come back again.
July 12 · Page CFood was very mediocre and especially for this price you’d expect something much better. We had 3 different dishes and 2 of them were very disappointing. French toast was so soggy and undercooked, and eggs were really bad quality.Coffee wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either. We really wanted to like this place but we were disappointed.
July 14 · George IvesVery cute place. The food tastes genuinely frenc. I am french and I can attest it tastes like something right out of a french brasserie. I strongly recommend the tarte tatin and the tuna tartare. I was just a little disappointed by the quality of the ham.
