The Bao's menu is extensive, but there are a few dishes that are consistently praised and are a must-try for any first-time visitor.
The Super Spicy Xiao Long Bao is a definite standout. These soup dumplings are a beloved classic with a flavorful kick. Another popular dim sum choice is the Wontons in Chili Oil, which are full of flavor and are a great way to start your meal. For those who prefer a less spicy option, the Kung Fu Xiao Long Bao and the Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao are equally delicious.
Beyond the dim sum, the Double Cooked Pork is a highly recommended entrée, described by a reviewer as "spot on" and "full of flavor." The Supreme Fried Rice is another fan favorite, noted for its delicious and well-balanced taste. The Scallion Pancake W. Shredded Duck is a fantastic appetizer that combines two beloved Chinese dishes into one. For those who enjoy noodles, the Braised Beef Noodle Soup and the Dan Dan Noodles are great, authentic options.
Ultimately, what makes The Bao worth choosing is the combination of its authentic, high-quality food and the pleasant dining experience. August 15 · Alec RamirezGreat experience at The Bao!We had the super spicy bao, wontons in chicken broth, supreme fried rice, and double cooked pork – everything was spot on. Full of flavor, well balanced, and really satisfying.Service was excellent too: kind, professional, and knowledgeable staff who made us feel welcome from the start.Definitely a place worth coming back to!
August 07 · Lorenzo MennucciThe Bao is amazing. Their lunch special is such a good deal. I got the double cooked pork and it was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Definitely one of the best lunch spots I have found in the city. They also have bottomless mimosas which makes it even better. Great food great drinks and a really chill atmosphere. I come here all the time!
April 28 · Alyza Alfonso2 of the 5 dishes we tried were fantastic! See photos for description. 2 were tasty. Only one dish, the Crispy Beef, was horrible - so bad we couldn’t eat it.
July 27 · MZA CSome of the best General Taos Chicken in NYC!! Hands down. I try a lot of places looking for the best. This ranks top 1 or 2 in the city for me. It’s real high quality meat, very little/thin breading, unbelievable flavor. I highly recommend this or their rice/noodle dishes.
