What is worth choosing
For any Houstonian looking for truly authentic, freshly made tortillas and chips, Tortilleria Zacatecas is absolutely worth choosing. The value of this establishment lies in its specialization. While it may not offer a full restaurant menu with barbacoa or other dishes, its focus on tortillas and totopos means that these items are perfected. A customer review specifically calls out the "tortillas de maiz" and "totopos" as "bomb AF," which is a testament to their exceptional quality. For many in the area, a trip here is a staple for stocking their pantry with the best possible ingredients for their homemade meals.
The unique identity of the business as both Latino-owned and women-owned also makes it a compelling choice. Supporting such local, community-driven businesses is a great way for Houston residents to contribute to the local economy and celebrate the city's diverse heritage. This isn't just a place to buy food; it's a place to support a local entrepreneur with deep ties to the culture she represents.
Another important factor is the convenience and accessibility of the services. The takeout-only model is perfect for those on the go. The acceptance of various payment methods, including debit cards and NFC mobile payments, makes transactions quick and easy. Furthermore, the fact that they accept EBT is a significant highlight, demonstrating a commitment to serving the entire community and ensuring their products are accessible to a wider audience.
While one customer review points out some challenges with parking, it’s a manageable issue with free street parking as an alternative. The trade-off for a slightly constrained parking situation is the assurance of high-quality products that you can’t get just anywhere. For those who know and appreciate the difference between store-bought and freshly made tortillas, this minor inconvenience is well worth it.
In short, Tortilleria Zacatecas is the ideal choice for anyone in the Houston area who values authenticity, quality, and community support. August 11 · SCGraphixI bought a lb of barbacoa everywhere else it comes with tortillas and salsa but here no. It was my first time there so I went ahead and paid 12 dollars and when I got home I smelled it and it smelled spoiled I ended up giving it to my dog. I called them to see what they would say and they said they do not take returns nor give refunds I didn't bother driving over there because of gas being so high its was cheaper just give it to my dog. I don't recommend getting any cooked food from this place. I will not ever again go there again. Dangerous place if they don't care to sell you rotten food.
August 19 · George MaravillaAcross the street from the old welfare office on Little York, 77093, there's a 2- man crew that's using their skills to service every make/model air conditioners. I truly respected the professionalism of these 2 young, up and coming future entrepreneur's. They're going places, and our community should be smart and support their venture. I'm here to confirm that you will drive away from the lot their working in feeling Cool and Comfortable without being broke!
July 01 · Jaynjay WashingtonThey have the store open till 8pm but, they never have tortillas after 7pm. If you want to get tortillas go to Tortilleria la Reyna instead. They have better service and they always have tortillas
