★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1An absolute 10 out of 10 of experience, my visit was a special event for there all you can eat tuna night and my goodness what a night it was, the high quality tuna aside the service and quickness of the staff was immaculate. And the tuna was to dye for i never had such high quality fish. Please if you can try to get tickets for their next event or even their regular omakase night it's worth every penny
July 24 · Matt TorresBeautiful place! The decorations are simply and elegant. The Tsumo sign inside the front entrance is beautiful. Our chef served 7 of us at the table and gave descriptions of each piece of sushi as he presented them. They were all yummy (except the scallop was a bit too spicy, I think there was some pepper and extra wasabi). Each serving had a ton of fish which was awesome! My favorites were the unagi and o toro and chu toro. I love how you get such a variety of seafood (and even some wagyu at the end). The chef even accommodated for my friend who couldn’t eat shrimp, nice of them to ask that beforehand!I also ordered the first drink on the menu (can’t remember name) which was delicious. They do keep it moving pretty quick and stick to the 75 minute schedule. I’m sure that’s one reason why it is so affordable. For this price point I can’t think of any other omakase place that beats the quality of Tsumo.Fun fact - Tsumo is the phrase used when you win a round of mahjong by drawing the right tile you need.
April 03 · Oliver YangChecked this place out the other night for the endless tuna omakase and boy oh boy, did it not disappoint. From the presentation of the whole fish which just got delivered that morning, to the engaging showmanship and care of it by the sushi masters to the expert preparation of every single part of the tuna from the lean head to the rich, fatty belly to the tail, this meal was the definition of decadent. There were multiple spoonfuls of caviar, there were bowl fulls of roe, gold flakes, hand rolls, sashimi, sushi, you name it. Almost forgot the rule was “until you say stop” and “at your own pace”, and each of the countless courses was so good, I definitely overate (ended up with well over a dozen courses). The whole meal was set to last an hour and 40 minutes but we stayed for 2 hours for the first seating. The sake selection was also delicious and we had a more dry one and a creamy fruit note bottle which tasted like sipping straight ice cream. The space itself was amazing, the only feedback I have is get a better ADA setup as I couldn’t get a good view from my wheelchair. Service by the staff was attentive and the chefs were so personable and friendly. All videos were captured by my date who got the real show, which was fantastic!10/10 would go back understanding the rules of the game so I pace myself and say no :)
June 27 · Stinson Parks IIITsumo on the Upper West Side delivers a quietly confident omakase experience—refined, well-paced, and refreshingly unflashy in all the right ways. I came in for the base omakase and left thoroughly impressed (and, to my relief, actually full). We had a reservation and were seated right on time—always a promising start. The space is calm and minimal, with just enough polish to feel elevated without being intimidating. Service was attentive and seamless, and the chefs were clearly skilled, both in preparation and in presentation. Each piece was introduced clearly, which I always appreciate—knowing what you’re eating somehow makes it taste even better. The progression of the meal felt intentional, with a lovely balance of texture, temperature, and flavor. There was an impressive range of fish—not just the usual suspects—and each bite was handled with real care.Though I stuck to the base menu, it was easy to see why others around us were adding extra pieces from the à la carte selection, which includes higher-end seasonal offerings. If you’re still hungry, or just curious, the staff makes it very easy to keep the experience going at your pace.In short: Tsumo is now my go-to omakase on the UWS. Excellent quality, graceful service, and a calm atmosphere that lets the food do the talking. If you’re looking for sushi with precision, variety, and just enough room for curiosity, this is the spot.
July 09 · Katherine NgDined at Tsumo on the UWS for my birthday tonight, and it was fantastic! As a long time sushi lover, I have been wanting to try omakase for a while and this place did not disappoint. They offer 13 courses for $58 per person which is great for the quality of food you’re getting. Everything was so fresh and delicious, from the kanpachi to my favorite which was the truffle topped Chu toro. Our chef was so attentive and knowledgeable about all the dishes, and even provided me with a special roll for my birthday. I ordered the yuzu cocktail & my friend got the white peach cocktail and both were delicious! Their menu even had a matcha beer which sounded so interesting. Highly, highly recommend this spot- but definitely make a reservation as they fill up quickly especially on a Saturday night.
