Yakiniku TORAJI Introduce
In a city celebrated for its diverse and immersive dining experiences, Yakiniku TORAJI stands out by bringing the authentic and interactive joy of Japanese BBQ to the heart of Midtown East. Unlike traditional restaurants where food is served ready to eat, Yakiniku TORAJI places the control directly in the diner's hands. Each table is equipped with a high-quality grill, allowing you and your companions to cook premium cuts of meat to your exact preference. This communal and engaging style of dining transforms a simple meal into a memorable event, perfect for a lively night out with friends, a family gathering, or a special date.
Yakiniku, which translates to "grilled meat," is a beloved Japanese dining style with roots in Korean barbecue, but it has evolved into its own distinct form. At Yakiniku TORAJI, the focus is on showcasing the exceptional quality of the ingredients. The meat is typically served in bite-sized, thinly sliced pieces that are lightly seasoned, allowing the natural, rich flavors of the beef to shine through. Diners then dip the perfectly grilled morsels into a variety of traditional Japanese sauces, such as a savory soy-based tare or a refreshing lemon juice blend. This hands-on approach to dining is not only fun but also ensures every bite is cooked to perfection, exactly the way you want it.
The restaurant's menu is a testament to its commitment to quality. While the primary focus is on an array of exquisite meats, including the highly sought-after A5 Wagyu, there are also options for various preferences. Customers rave about the tenderness and flavor of the different cuts, with favorites like the Kalbi (boneless short rib) and Harami (skirt steak) being particularly popular. The atmosphere is designed to be both casual and trendy, with a cozy feel that invites you to linger and enjoy the experience. As an Asian-owned business that is welcoming to all, including the LGBTQ+ community and families, Yakiniku TORAJI offers a safe and inclusive space for a wide range of patrons.
Yakiniku TORAJI has quickly become a standout dining destination in the neighborhood. Its unique concept, combined with the high-quality food and attentive service, makes it a top choice for those seeking a different kind of Japanese meal. Whether you're a seasoned yakiniku enthusiast or a first-timer, the staff is ready to guide you through the process, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. The a la carte options allow for a personalized culinary journey, while the well-curated bento boxes provide a complete and satisfying meal for those who prefer not to grill at the table.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had a great experience at Japanese BBQ Toraji. The service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We ordered a la carte and everything we tried was delicious. We order everything with salt and not the sauce. The kalbi was tender and flavorful definitely a highlight. The Toraji Salad was refreshing and had a nice balance of textures. We also got the signature Toraji Cut, which was rich and juicy, perfect for grilling tableside.Overall, a solid spot for Japanese BBQ with high-quality meat and great service. We’ll definitely be back to try more!
July 03 · Lisa WongI absolutely love this place! I booked it on a whim since it's close to my job, and it turned out to be an incredible find. We grabbed seats at the bar, and the menu, while simple, offers a few course options alongside à la carte selections. Totally worth it! The A5 Wagyu was exceptional--so tender, with perfect marbling, it practically melted in my mouth. It was both filling and deeply satisfying. Overall, an outstanding experience, and I highly recommend giving this spot a try!
June 04 · Jamie LThis Tokyo-based Japanese Yakiniku in the heart of Manhattan’s Chinatown is a must-try!We indulged in their exceptional premium wagyu course. Omg...it's an experience of the melt-in-your-mouth!While their grill selections steal the spotlight, don’t overlook the rest of their delicious menu! From mouth watering appetizers, delightful fresh salads, enticing selection of sushi and sashimi, along with an array of rice and noodle dishes that cater to every taste. Service was top-notch! The whole dining experience was perfectly complemented by an ambiance that exuded luxury and elegance!Follow me @foodie.elite on IG and Tiktok for more!
April 15 · Foodie EliteLove coming here for lunch with my coworkers. The lunch specials are tasty and reasonably priced. Each set comes with kimchi, salad, miso soup, and a mochi ice cream for dessert. Great food and a nice, quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
April 25 · Chen SophieAbsolutely terrible experience. We went to celebrate my birthday, and the service was beyond awful. We dropped a piece of raw meat on our kimchi plate—the waiter rolled her eyes when we asked her to take it away. They charged an expensive cake fee but didn’t cut the cake for us, expecting us to do it ourselves. When we asked them to cut it, they were impatient and rude. The food tasted okay, but 3 out of 5 of us had diarrhea afterwards. Would not recommend. There are way better options for BBQ in NYC. Not worth $100+/person.
