Zaab Burger Introduce
In the heart of New York City’s bustling Lower East Side, inside the lively Essex Market, Zaab Burger presents a truly unique and exciting culinary concept. This small counter-service spot, from the team behind the popular Thai restaurant Zaab Zaab, masterfully fuses the classic American smash burger with the fiery, aromatic flavors of Thailand’s Isan region. Zaab Burger is a testament to culinary innovation, offering a menu that goes far beyond your typical burger joint. The atmosphere is casual and dynamic, fitting perfectly within the food hall environment of Essex Market. It's a place designed for a quick bite, a satisfying lunch, or a flavorful dinner, making it an excellent choice for solo diners and families alike. Zaab Burger offers a fresh and adventurous take on a beloved comfort food, promising an experience that is both familiar and unexpectedly delightful for anyone walking by.
The menu at Zaab Burger is a focused exploration of this unique fusion. The "KA POW BURGER" is a smash burger topped with a savory "wok-tossed" beef, while the "ISAN BURGER" features a house-made Thai green chili smash patty, accompanied by bitter mayo. Perhaps the most inventive option is the "KHOA JEE BURGER," which boldly replaces the traditional potato bun with a grilled sticky rice bun, a nod to authentic Thai street food. For those who prefer a classic, Zaab Burger also offers a simple "AMERICAN BURGER" and "DOUBLE AMERICAN BURGER" that still maintain the high-quality, juicy smash patty. The sides menu is equally thoughtful, with "ZAAB FRIES" seasoned with a special blend of Zaab spices, providing a perfect complement to the burgers. The food is noted by customers for being cooked to perfection, with fries that are "crunchy and crispy." While one reviewer noted a burger that was a bit too greasy, another praised the incredible flavors and overall experience, highlighting the passion and care that the staff puts into each order.
The experience at Zaab Burger is enhanced by its fast and pleasant service. As a counter-service establishment, it's designed for efficiency, making it an ideal spot for a quick, high-quality meal. One customer praised the "super kind" guy running the shop, highlighting the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This personal touch in a busy market setting makes a significant difference. Zaab Burger is a popular choice for lunch and dinner, catering to a wide range of customers from neighborhood regulars to curious tourists. The presence of a "kids' menu" and a welcoming attitude towards families makes it a versatile spot. The option for "dogs allowed outside" seating is a convenient feature for pet owners visiting the market. The convenience of delivery, takeout, and dine-in options further adds to its appeal, allowing customers to enjoy their unique burgers wherever they are. This combination of innovative cuisine, fast service, and a friendly atmosphere makes Zaab Burger a standout in the Lower East Side's vibrant food scene.
Zaab Burger's menu is a testament to its creative blend of cuisines, offering a well-thought-out selection of burgers and sides. The "THAI SMASHED BURGER" section is where the real adventure begins. The "ZAAB BURGER" is a great starting point, a classic smash burger enhanced with a house seasoning and Zaab sauce. The "JAEW BBQ BURGER" brings a smoky, tangy flavor profile with its Jaew BBQ sauce, which is traditionally made with tamarind and palm sugar. The "KA POW BURGER," topped with savory wok-tossed beef, is another excellent option for those seeking a more complex flavor. Beyond the burgers, the "FRIES & SAUCES" menu offers both classic "FRENCH FRIES" and the must-try "ZAAB FRIES," which are dusted with an exotic blend of spices. The selection of sauces, including the "SPICY MAYO" and the authentic "GREEN CHILI," allows for a personalized taste experience. For beverages, you can choose from standard sodas or a traditional "THAI ICE TEA," which perfectly complements the bold flavors of the food. This carefully curated menu ensures that every item is a representation of the restaurant's unique concept and a memorable dining experience.
The quality of the food at Zaab Burger is a result of a clear focus on flavorful and authentic ingredients. The Zaab sauce is described as a secret house blend, and the Jaew BBQ sauce is made from traditional ingredients like tamarind and palm sugar, ensuring an authentic taste. The buns are also given special attention, with one review mentioning the "etched Siam inspired bun" that adds to the aesthetic and flavor. The commitment to providing a good quality burger is evident in the positive feedback about the "cooked to perfection" patty and "crunchy and crispy" fries. While one customer's experience was not perfect, the overwhelmingly positive reviews highlight a consistently good experience for most diners. The ability to offer a great meal at a reasonable price, as a competitor's menu was noted to be pricier, is a significant advantage. The Zaab Burger team's background in authentic Thai cuisine from their other restaurants ensures that the flavors they incorporate into their burgers are genuine and well-executed. This blend of authentic Thai tastes with an American staple is what makes Zaab Burger a truly special spot in New York City.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was walking by and thought, why not.Got the double Zaab burger which had a pickled jalepeno. Verdict was great size and density, loved the etched Siam inspired bun but it was extremely greasy and lacked seasoning or flavor. The grease was actually dripping out of the wrapper before I even unwrapped it.I really wanted to love it but alas, for the neighborhood it’s still KO Burgers for the knock out.
April 10 · G HWhen I went to nyc I was looking for a great day trip and Zaab made it happen. The burger was cooked to perfection and it was amazing. The fries were crunchy and crispy and the seasonings was top point. The whole experience was amazing and most of all the guy running the shop was super kind. Overall if this small shop was an actual restaurant, I would go every day.
April 01 · Dylan FisherThe toppings and flavors are the standout taste, Thai spices are not normally what you expect with a burger. But the taste of the meat didn’t really come through for me which is holding this back from a higher rating. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and the Zaab fries are tasty. Overall a solid burger spot doing something different with their dishes. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area!
April 27 · Ryan TammaroEasily my favorite spot in Essex Market!Their Zaab burger & fries are juicy and packed with flavors and that’s coming from someone who’s not even that crazy about burgers lol
July 05 · L PWow, actually insane that one of the best Thai restaurants in NYC opened up a burger joint. Loved the concept and burger really came through with authentic Thai flavors.
