Don Antonio Introduce
In the heart of New York City, where pizza is a way of life, finding a place that truly stands out for its authenticity and craftsmanship can be a challenge. Don Antonio, located in the vibrant Theater District, is one such place. More than just a pizza restaurant, it is a culinary institution, bringing the genuine flavors of Naples directly to Manhattan. This restaurant, which is a women-owned business, is run by a family of expert pizzaioli, a heritage that is evident in every single dish. The atmosphere is casual yet cozy and trendy, making it an ideal spot for a pre-theater dinner, a friendly group get-together, or a satisfying solo meal. Don Antonio offers a wide variety of Italian-inspired dishes, from classic appetizers and salads to a full cocktail bar, but the star of the show is, without a doubt, the pizza.
What sets Don Antonio apart is its unwavering commitment to Neapolitan tradition. The pizzas are made with the finest ingredients, many of which are imported directly from Italy, and are cooked to perfection in a traditional wood-fired oven. The result is a light, airy, and crispy crust that is a hallmark of authentic Neapolitan pizza. Patrons rave about the quality, describing the pies as "amazing" and noting the "perfect light and crispy crust." The restaurant also specializes in a unique style of pizza known as "Montanara," where the pizza dough is flash-fried before being topped and finished in the oven. This creates a crust that is even lighter and airier, and it has become one of the restaurant's signature offerings. The friendly service, great vibe, and top-tier food all contribute to an experience that is well worth seeking out, even for those who might have to "go out of your way to visit."
The dedication to an authentic experience is not just limited to the food. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere, which one reviewer described as having "great restaurant vibes," adds to the overall charm. While some seating may be more suited for smaller groups, the restaurant is well-equipped to handle groups, families, and tourists. The staff, while occasionally noted as being a bit pushy near closing, are generally helpful and accommodating, striving to provide a fast and efficient service that is essential for a bustling New York eatery. For those with dietary restrictions, Don Antonio goes above and beyond, offering a full gluten-free pizza menu that has received high praise from customers who have described the gluten-free pies as "hands down the greatest GF pizza" they have ever had. This commitment to inclusivity and quality makes Don Antonio a true standout in a city with no shortage of pizza options.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Don Antonio is a must-visit for pizza lovers! Every pie we tried was amazing—authentic Neapolitan with that perfect light and crispy crust. The lemon pizza was my favorite—bright, tangy, and unforgettable. It’s run by the daughter of the owner of Kesté (another great NYC pizzeria), so pizza mastery clearly runs in the family. A true family of expert pizzaioli.Friendly service, cozy vibe, and top-tier food. Can’t wait to go back!
July 25 · Paolo BaroneAmazing pizza. Great restaurant vibes but seating just okay. Service a bit pushy. Definitely worth going out of your way to visit.Walked by the place many times but finally decided to give it a go after seeing a show. We showed up 30 minutes before closing but they were happy to accommodate us. Pizza looked and was authentic. Not heavy. Absolutely delicious. “10 year anniversary” and “fall… in love” pizzas were just amazing. My girl really liked the wine menu. Overall top notch food experience.Staff were generally good but as it was near closing, they kept pushing us to order quickly and finish up. I get it but not so nice. Great atmosphere too but the wooden benches weren’t the best for a 4 person group. Would have given 4.5 stars for each if I could.Overall, totally worth going for the food.
August 24 · Graham AThis is reputed to be one of the best pizza places in New York City, and I’d say it lived up to its reputation. A true thin crust pizza with a puffy rim. Just like in Italy ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. A nice set of appetizers and salads to complement the pizza. The waitress was terrific, willing to ask our questions even though it was busy. And service was pretty fast, which is great for pre-theater.
June 06 · Peter GrambsAnyone with celiac disease knows how hard it is to find great pizza. Well, the 7th Greatest Pizza Maker in the United States knows exactly how to do it! What an amazing dinner served by the kindest staff. The friendliness of the Host and Bartender cannot be overstated. The menu is outstanding and offer a huge variety of authentic pizzas and all with GF options. The restaurant also has GF beer and cider. Apologies for going heavy on the gluten free commentary but it deserves high praise. Service is very fast so if you are headed to the theatre or just need a quick fix, this place is perfect. Thanks for an awesome dinner.
August 18 · michael HI like this place for the simplicity but delicious pizzas. Came here with a large group during the week and was able to get seated with a reservation made the day of. The pizzas came out quick once ordered and the staff were wonderful to work with. The margherita stood out the most to me - simple yet fresh and delicious. Would come back again if I’m looking for a meal nearby.
