March 15 · MingWhat we liked best - the Dumpling Man staff are really friendly, kind and very knowledgeable about dumplings, their sake offerings and just nice to talk with while ordering. We enjoyed watching their precision timely steaming and pan frying their incredibly fresh dumplings and soup dumplings. We especially were impressed with the quality, cleanliness and were mesmerized watching their precision timely rhythmic hand stuffing and folding of their dumplings. 🥟 I liked that my order of 10 shrimp dumplings was too much for me to eat for dinner! My bottomless pit teen also was stuffed after eating 7 or 8 of the ! Amazing 🤩 My Lovie ordered the soup dumplings. 🥟 I liked that the shrimp dumplings had a little sweet corn inside along with several shrimp and pepper - finally a shrimp dumpling without bamboo and other tasteless fillers! The corn with full little fresh shrimps were tasty - probably the best insides I’ve enjoyed in a long time. My Lovie thought the soup dumplings were very juicy - a good thing since they are filled with juicy meat and soup - but not spicy enough for my dumpling connoisseurist. Here’s what we weren’t crazy about - the outside dumpling wrap is thicker than we are used to, substantial and not going to rip when dunked - no chance. Since we literally saw them being made, we know they are super fresh, I think we are more used to a thinner wrap.Don’t let the wrap stop you from trying this little place. My teen loved the hot and sour soup and the meat dumplings, my lovie and I thought the soup was substantial with juicy ingredients but way too sweet. We heard other diners express how much they loved the dumplings and soup so I think it’s a matter of preference and definitely worth trying to see what you think.I would go back (and will go back!) for their shrimp dumplings, they were just too good and too high quality and my top rating for me to not make a run for the Dumpling Man when I want shrimp dumplings. 🥟 Also, I have to say this - this was the CLEANEST most NEAT and sanitary dumpling place - hands down! We observed frequent hand washing, sanitary handling of food, utensils and pans. It was impressive, especially as we eat our way through other East Village and Chinatown stands. This is reason enough to make a visit. They are an A (really A+) most other dumpling places start at B tbh… I liked this place very much and enjoyed our dinner. 🍽️ Cash only or Zelle.
August 08 · Solange HansenMy go-to soup dumplings and dumplings spot in NYC. Everything on the menu is delicious, but the soup dumplings are my favorite. Their texture, filling, and sauces - the best!! Price is great, cash and Zelle only (they do have an ATM). The staff is always so warm and friendly. It's small inside, but they have bar style seating with one side facing where they prep and cook the dumplings. Been coming here for years, highly recommend!
March 02 · NicoleAffordable, authentic, & delicious! Went for the soup dumplings but ended up also getting the sampler. The soup dumplings were fantastic and the pork fried dumplings ended up being my favorite. It’s cool to see everything being made right in front of you! The place is super small but we went late so we had no problems finding a place to sit. It’s not traditional family style seating so I don’t recommend going with a large group. Will definitely be back!
January 27 · Francesca AntonelloThis was a nice little hidden gem for some yummy dumplings. The price is pretty good for the area of east village. The dumplings for 6-8 pieces costs around $8-$10. I liked the vibrant color of the dumplings. The dumplings are also made right in front of you and you can see it be made. And the dumplings come out fairly quickly. There is also seating indoors and outdoors. This place is cash only and has vegetarian dumplings available!
