El Pirata Street Food Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1First time trying their food, it was amazing. I had a burger, hot dog, and chorizo fries. Granted, I was drinking wine, so maybe it enhanced the flavors.Second time, I waited until Thursday to order food. I was the first person to order that day. The chorizo fries were meh. The fries were too crispy, and I ended up leaving half of it on a bench for someone homeless to eat.Third time, I decided to give it another shot. I waited on the line for over 30 minutes behind two groups of people ordering. I had a whole conversation with a friend who passed by and forgot what I was ordering. The guy came by and asked me what I wanted. I forgot the name of it, so after 5 seconds, he got angry and walked away to cook. I thought he was joking, so I brushed it off even though my friend noticed his attitude. I made eye contact with him while he was cooking and told him what I wanted.A woman went in front of me to pay, and I told him my order again, which was the “choripapa.” He responded rudely, saying, “Estoy bregando con cuarto ahora.” This means he’s dealing with money right now. So, I asked him if he heard me. He rudely responded, “No estoy en ti ahora.” This basically means he’s not focused on me.Mind you, I was there standing telling my friend he should try their food after all of this happened. I don’t know where he got this attitude from. I didn’t have a bad experience with him before. He just randomly came with attitude. I made it easy by responding to him in Spanish.I just took my money elsewhere. I didn’t respond or argue. I just walked off....If you're tipsy or drunk and don't mind waiting a long time for food and you're close by, it's a decent option for Dominican fusion food, otherwise it's not worth the walk or wait.
August 10 · Daquan NicholsonWent here to order a yaroa. What happened next was shocking. No where on his menu does it state that they are served with French fries. French fries. Okay fine. For $15? You will get: Some cheap French fries from restaurant depot- trashThen you get some old ass shredded stewed chicken that did not even taste good. And sauce? Like really? When I politely asked him to change it out because my wife expected this to be yellow plantain at the bottom he got upset and said “what am I going to do with that give it to someone else”I told him that he could throw it out but we would want to change it to something else as we did not eat much if any maybe 2 bites??When he refused to change it for something else of equal price, I asked if he could refund then since he didn’t want to change it for something else. He told me NO. There are no signs that say “no refunds”, nor does the menu state what is in the food you’re buying. If we had an allergy this would be an even bigger problem for him and his license (which I don’t see on the truck)Very nasty attitude, and this was my first and last time coming as a customer.TLDR: overpriced for low quality ingredients, and really egregious behavior from someone who seems to be the owner. There are MANY places in the area to choose from, that taste way better and provide better ingredients for what you’re paying. Don’t waste your money.
May 06 · RichawnAmazing food! From the chimi, to the parrillada, yaroa and even the salchipapa was absolutely amazing. Wait time was less than 10 minutes for the first half of our big order to come out. The flavor is unique, I’ve never had a chimi like this. Will definitely visit again. 11/10!!
