FRITURA LA FUERTE Introduce
For those living or passing through the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, FRITURA LA FUERTE offers a quick and casual option for Dominican fried food. Situated as a food truck on W 178th Street, it is a convenient stop for a fast meal. The name itself, "Fritura La Fuerte," translates to "The Strong Fried Food," which speaks directly to its specialty. Fritura is a term used for various fried foods, and in the Dominican context, it often refers to a hearty mix of fried meats, root vegetables, and plantains. As a casual eatery, the atmosphere is straightforward and built for convenience, whether you're grabbing a meal on the go or taking a quick moment to enjoy your food nearby.
The experience at FRITURA LA FUERTE can be a bit of a mixed bag, as is often the case with street food. One positive review highlights the deliciousness and flavor of the food, noting that it was a welcome find late at night. The reviewer was particularly impressed with the "massive" portions, which they felt were great for sharing, and praised the "reasonable" prices. This perspective paints a picture of a spot that is excellent for satisfying late-night cravings, offering a substantial and tasty meal that is a good value for the money. The reviewer’s sentiment that it was "one of the best fritura we have had in a minute" suggests that when the food is on point, it truly hits the mark for fans of this cuisine.
However, another review offers a starkly different and highly critical view. This customer expressed significant disappointment, citing issues with the freshness of the food, specifically mentioning that the plantains and sweet potatoes ("tostones and batata") tasted old. The reviewer also raised serious concerns about hygiene, describing a "stench" from the meat and finding a hair in their food. Beyond the quality of the product, the customer service experience was a major point of contention. The reviewer claims that the owner was unprofessional and disrespectful, refusing to offer a replacement or refund after the complaint. The owner's alleged "too bad for you" response to a similar complaint on social media further cemented this customer's negative opinion, leading to a strong recommendation against the establishment. This review, if accurate, raises important questions about quality control and customer relations.
Given the provided information, FRITURA LA FUERTE is a classic example of a high-risk, high-reward food spot. While one customer had an excellent experience with a delicious, flavorful, and generously portioned meal, another encountered serious issues with food quality and an exceptionally poor customer service response. This kind of disparity is not uncommon in the fast-paced, high-volume world of New York City street food. For a local looking for a quick and casual bite, the experience may depend on the day, the time, and the specific items ordered. The establishment's success appears to rely heavily on its ability to deliver on the promise of fresh, high-quality fried food, which is the core of "fritura" cuisine.

### What is Worth Choosing
Based on the available customer reviews, choosing FRITURA LA FUERTE is a decision about embracing a true, no-frills street food experience. For the customer who had a positive experience, the food was "delicious and full of flavor," with massive portions at a reasonable price, making it a great late-night stop. The strength of this establishment lies in its ability to deliver authentic Dominican fried food ("fritura") that can be deeply satisfying when prepared correctly. The menu of fried meats, plantains, and other items is perfect for a quick bite or a shared meal, offering a taste of home for some and an exciting new flavor for others. The convenience of takeout and delivery is a major benefit for New Yorkers in a hurry.
However, it is impossible to ignore the significant negative feedback. The review that mentioned issues with old-tasting food, a foul smell from the meat, and finding a hair in the food raises serious concerns about quality control and hygiene. Furthermore, the alleged refusal to offer a refund or replacement and the disrespectful attitude of the owner highlight a potential for extremely poor customer service. These are critical factors to consider for any prospective customer. A decision to visit this spot means accepting a certain level of risk; you might have a fantastic experience like the first reviewer, or a highly disappointing one like the second. For those who prioritize a quick, flavorful, and generously portioned meal and are willing to take a chance on a local food truck, FRITURA LA FUERTE could be a hidden gem. But for those who demand consistent quality and professional service, the negative reviews suggest a need for caution and may point to better alternatives in the area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came across this spot randomly because at 3 AM and you’re drunk fried food is your best friend! The food was delicious and full of flavor. It’s a nice food truck located right on the main avenue. The prorations are massive so get ready to share with a friend. Prices are also reasonable. Overall, this was one of the best fritura we have had in a minute! Keep up the great work!!
July 29 · Daren SanchezI had a very disappointing experience with this food truck. The food is overpriced for what you get. I cook Dominican food at home, and I know when tostones and batata are fresh, what they served was clearly old and tasted bad. The meat also had a stench, which raised serious concerns about freshness and hygiene. On top of that, I found a hair in the food. I called right away and was told I could come back, but when I did, the owner refused to replace the food or give a refund. Completely unprofessional. What really sealed it for me was the disrespectful attitude of the owner. I later saw a comment on their TikTok from another customer sharing their bad experience, and instead of responding with empathy or trying to make it right, the owner simply replied, "too bad for you." That says everything you need to know about how they treat customers. This food truck is unsanitary, overpriced, and run by someone who clearly doesn’t care about quality or customer service. I don’t recommend it to anyone.
