Mojo East is dedicated to providing a singular dining experience, and its service options are tailored to that goal. Unlike many casual eateries, it is a dine-in only establishment, ensuring that every piece of sushi is enjoyed fresh, right as it's prepared by the chef. This focus on the in-house experience highlights the importance of the intimate and personal nature of omakase.
Dine-in: The primary service offered is the traditional dine-in experience. This is crucial for omakase, as the chef presents each course in a specific order, explaining the ingredients and preparation. Sitting at the counter allows for a direct interaction with the chef, enhancing the overall journey.
Accepts Reservations: Given the small and intimate nature of the restaurant, reservations are a key service feature. Booking a spot in advance is essential to secure a seat, as walk-ins may not be accommodated. This system ensures that each guest receives dedicated attention and a well-paced dining experience.
Alcohol and Beer: To complement its exceptional food, Mojo East offers a selection of beverages, including alcohol and beer. This allows guests to pair their omakase with traditional Japanese drinks like Kubota Nigori or a refreshing Sapporo Premium, elevating the flavors of the meal.

Mojo East distinguishes itself through several key features and highlights that contribute to its glowing reputation and loyal customer base. These are the elements that make it a standout choice for those seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience.
Exceptional Omakase: The core of the experience is the omakase set, a carefully crafted menu that showcases the freshest, highest-quality fish. The variety of nigiri, from classic selections like Suzuki and Salmon to more premium offerings like Gindara and Chu-Toro, ensures a diverse and exciting meal.
Chef's Personal Touch: A consistent highlight from customer reviews is the personal attention from the chef. The intimate counter seating allows for direct interaction, with the chef often taking the time to explain each dish and share his passion for the craft. This creates a friendly and engaging atmosphere that feels more like a private dinner party than a typical restaurant meal.
Outstanding Value: For a city where omakase can often come with a very high price tag, Mojo East offers an incredible value. The combination of high-quality ingredients, expert preparation, and a generous number of courses at a competitive price point makes it one of the most highly-rated omakase experiences in New York City. The no-tipping policy, as mentioned by a customer, further adds to the perceived value.
Highly Recommended: The restaurant has garnered a reputation that extends beyond the city. The fact that a customer would drive all the way from Baltimore speaks volumes about the quality and experience Mojo East provides. It has built a strong reputation as a "must-try" destination for sushi lovers.
Intimate Setting: The seating arrangement, particularly the counter, is a highlight. It allows guests to watch the chef in action and provides a cozy, focused dining environment that enhances the appreciation of the food.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We’ve already driven from Baltimore to Mojo East three times… that’s how you know it’s the real deal. 🐟 The fish? Crazy fresh. The price? 13 courses for $55 AND no tipping. Can’t beat it.But honestly, what makes it extra special is Chef Ken. He’s the kind of chef who makes you feel like you’re at a friend’s dinner party (if your friend happened to be a sushi master). Sit with him if you want to be taken care of — he makes the whole experience unforgettable.NYC has a ton of sushi spots, but Mojo East is the one we keep coming back to. Worth every mile. 🚗🍣
August 09 · Kayla LajaraLived up to the hype. Very tasty omakase with a great variety of fishes and flavors. For the price point this is easily one of the best omakase experiences I have had in the city. The seating time was spot on, we chose counter #1 which was the smaller one I think works better and staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
August 17 · MubinMojo East is one of the best Omakase experiences I’ve had — AND at an incredible value! Every course was beautifully prepared with top-quality fish, and you can really taste the freshness in every bite. The chef’s attention to detail and the presentation were top-notch, and the atmosphere was welcoming and never pretentious. The staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and passionate about what they do. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a great experience, which, they do. We’ve been twice in the past month and can’t wait to go again. If you’re looking for high-end quality without the sky-high price tag, this place is a gem.
June 27 · Britni GaddyI’d love to recommend this hidden gem omakase spot in NYC — honestly the best value I’ve found so far. For just $55, you get a 13-course omakase experience that completely exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is immaculately clean, the ambience is warm and relaxing, and most impressively — there’s no tipping required, but the service is absolutely top-notch. The quality of the fish and the attention to detail were far beyond what you’d expect at this price point. If you’re looking for an affordable, high-quality omakase without any pressure to tip, this place is a must-try.
June 23 · Linda So QI’ll be honest… I didn’t have high expectations going in since I had won a giveaway for a free omakase for 2. Normally, it’s $55 for 13 courses, which is already a great deal. Plus, no tipping culture? Love that!!!But I was genuinely surprised by how fresh the fish was. The overall experience was really solid. The only downside was the rice, some of the pieces fell apart a little too easily and we did feel a bit rushed toward the end since the next seating was basically standing there waiting for us to wrap up.I ordered a bottle of sake and tried their Lucky Chicken IPA—both were great. We also added on a few extra pieces and ended up paying $165 total. Definitely worth it. I’d come back and recommend it for sure—super affordable and quality all around.
