When considering where to eat in New York, Ni Japanese Deli offers a unique proposition that is worth choosing for several reasons. Our focus on healthy, authentic Japanese food sets us apart. We prioritize using fresh ingredients to create meals that are not only delicious but also nourishing. The variety of our menu is another key feature. Whether you are in the mood for a hearty bento box, a warm bowl of udon noodles, or a light and fresh sushi roll, we have you covered. Our commitment to catering to different dietary needs, especially with our strong selection of vegetarian and vegan options, is a huge plus for those seeking plant-based meals in the city. The fact that we are a one-stop-shop for both a delicious meal and authentic Japanese groceries is a unique and valuable service that few other places offer. You can enjoy a fresh meal and then pick up high-quality miso, rice, or matcha to use in your own cooking at home.
However, it is important to manage expectations and consider all aspects of the customer experience. Some customers have expressed concerns about portion sizes and flavor profiles, noting that some dishes can be perceived as small or lacking in seasoning. While our food is designed to be healthy and authentic, which often means less heavy sauces and an emphasis on the natural flavor of ingredients, this may not align with everyone’s palate. The value proposition is also something to consider carefully. While we use high-quality ingredients, some customers have felt that the portion-to-price ratio was not ideal. For instance, the Salmon Bento is a premium item that some have found to be less substantial than expected for the price. It's best to come in knowing that our food is focused on health and fresh, subtle flavors, rather than the rich, savory profiles found in other cuisines. This makes Ni Japanese Deli a great choice for those who appreciate traditional, healthy Japanese cooking and want a convenient, authentic experience, but it may not be for those seeking large portions or bold, intense flavors.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Awful. Absolutely awful. The portion was so laughably small. My photo shows the exact amount I received. I thought someone had eaten half of it when I opened it. $18 !!Sure, if they skimped on the tuna it would be more understandable. But they gave me like two spoonfuls of brown rice and a few pieces of greens, which are just standard ingredients. There’s nothing else, either: just rice, avocado, tuna, and a bit of nori and sesame. No sauce. No flavor.I complained to the guy who served me and he just smirked, shrugged and said “That’s what we do.” It was such a blatant rip-off that it was comical.
November 29 · Duv LassI ordered the vegan curry noodle and it was so bland and thin, absolutely not worth the price ($19 with tax). The stand looks authentic but doesn’t deliver on flavor at all. I recommend going to the Italian restaurant next to it instead.
January 09 · Karishma DagaIncredible food! I miss the medium sized snack/meals you can pick up in train stations or road-side in Japan. These are a perfect fix. Super fresh and light. Great vegan options and great price.
May 01 · Katjia CallicoatDelicious, tasty, fresh, healthy - everything I love and prioritize for food! It was a bit expensive for what it is, but the salmon bento brought me so much joy! The kabocha side dish was also really tasty. The food felt like a home cooked meal and was the perfect portion size for one, with extra pumpkin to last a few meals. Miso soup was good but not memorable
October 30 · Jenn SoongBeen there a few times, food is usually decent if overpriced (6.5 for small onigiri!) but today the sushi rice was hard like uncooked or leftover. The man is not particularly friendly & the 50 cent card charge seems silly.
