Sanuki Udon Introduce
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Greenwich Village, Sanuki Udon brings the rich, authentic flavors of Japan's Kagawa Prefecture—the "Udon Kingdom"—right to New York City. This fast-casual restaurant is a true gem, offering a unique and delightful dining experience that centers on one of Japan's most beloved comfort foods: Sanuki-style udon. It’s a perfect spot for busy New Yorkers, including the many students and faculty around nearby NYU, who are looking for a hearty, flavorful, and quick meal without compromising on quality.
The concept behind Sanuki Udon is to provide a customizable and efficient service model, much like an assembly line, that allows diners to build their perfect meal. You start with a bowl of freshly made udon noodles, then choose from a variety of broths and toppings, and finally, add your favorite crispy tempura from the a la carte counter. This hands-on approach not only speeds up the process but also ensures every bowl is exactly what you’re craving. The result is a simple, yet deeply satisfying, meal that feels both traditional and perfectly suited for the urban pace.
Sanuki Udon is more than just a place for a quick bite. It’s a culinary experience that highlights the distinct chewy texture and firm bite of authentic Sanuki udon noodles, which are made fresh daily with wheat flour imported directly from Japan. The commitment to using high-quality ingredients, from the noodles to the rich, flavorful soup stock stewed with kelp and bonito, is evident in every spoonful. The cozy and trendy atmosphere provides a welcoming space to relax and enjoy your food, whether you're dining solo or with a group of friends.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Noodle shop with a Google review you get a free drink!Beef Udon was a bit bitter for my liking. I might just like my beef udon on the sweeter side. They were generous on the beef but it was mostly fat. The egg was an add on for either $2.75 or $2.95, I don’t remember. But the egg flavor was great!
May 31 · AHighly recommended to the students and faculty around NYU, who wants hearty food without wait! I had the beef udon and I like that the beef is thick and has very generous portion. The tempura crab stick and the soft boiled egg are also really delicious!
April 21 · Xinyi XuI ordered the udon with curry, and it was absolutely delicious! As a fan of udon soups, I can confidently say this one hit all the right notes—rich, flavorful, and perfectly comforting. The prices are very affordable, which makes the whole experience even better. I also appreciated the complimentary hot tea and cold water. Highly recommend!
July 08 · Rosy OrosI was pleasantly surprised by the light and refreshing broth. The tempura was also perfectly crispy! I would definitely recommend if you want a midday palate cleanser and a quick bite to eat.
July 04 · Esther YooI love udon and efficiency. This is a good place for udon lovers with almost everything is self-serviced. Very filling with the side tempuras and with reasonable price. Very convenient location for students who want fast warm food. Didn't take a pic of the self serve station with utensils/ sauces/ condiments/ water/ tea/ take boxes with brown bags. Plenty of seatings with coat hangers on the wall and section by the window. There's also station where to put your dirty tray. Feels like a school cafeteria type of system. They take cards with a fee. And, the restroom with a code.
