Sushi Ann Introduce
In a city as dynamic and diverse as New York, where new dining trends emerge daily, some places stand out for their steadfast commitment to tradition and quality. Sushi Ann, located in the bustling heart of Midtown, is one such place. It's a culinary destination for those who appreciate the true art of authentic Japanese sushi, prepared with a level of expertise and dedication that is increasingly rare. This isn't a place for flashy fusion rolls or gimmick-laden dishes; instead, it's a haven for sushi purists who seek an experience rooted in centuries of tradition. The atmosphere is an elegant blend of cozy and trendy, with a subtle, minimalist decor that allows the craftsmanship of the food to be the star of the show. It's an upscale setting that feels both refined and relaxed, making it perfect for a business lunch, a special celebration, or a solo dinner at the sushi counter where you can watch the chefs at work.
The dedication to authenticity is what truly sets Sushi Ann apart. Chefs meticulously select the freshest, highest-quality fish, often sourcing seasonal ingredients to ensure each piece of sushi is a reflection of the season's best. A customer review highlights this, noting that the sushi is "more authentic than what most places serve stateside," a strong endorsement of the restaurant's traditional approach. This focus on the natural essence of the ingredients means that each delicate slice of fish rests atop perfectly seasoned rice, allowing its inherent flavors and textures to shine without unnecessary embellishments. The menu, while offering a variety of a la carte options, truly shines in its omakase experiences. "Omakase," a Japanese term meaning "I'll leave it up to you," is a curated dining journey where the diner entrusts the chef to select a series of dishes. At Sushi Ann, this can include a Chef's Sushi Omakase or a combined Sushi and Sashimi Omakase, showcasing a range of premium seasonal items like Chu-Toro (medium fatty tuna) and Hokkaido Uni (sea urchin). This personal touch and the element of surprise make it a truly memorable and highly recommended experience for both newcomers and seasoned sushi lovers.
The culinary journey at Sushi Ann is complemented by a comprehensive beverage program. The offerings include a selection of beer, cocktails, hard liquor, and an impressive wine list, each chosen to perfectly pair with the delicate flavors of the sushi and sashimi. For those who want to fully immerse themselves in the Japanese dining experience, exploring the sake list is a must. The restaurant's attention to detail is also reflected in its service. Reviews often mention the fantastic and professional service, with staff who are attentive and knowledgeable, ready to guide guests through the menu and enhance their dining experience. The restaurant is popular for both lunch and dinner, and for good reason. Its offerings are designed to be as satisfying for a quick, high-quality midday meal as they are for a luxurious, multi-course evening dinner. The restaurant's reputation for being a higher-end Japanese eatery is well-deserved, but it maintains a comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere, as one reviewer noted, making it a place to feel at ease while enjoying truly exceptional food.
While the restaurant is a popular spot for tourists, its authentic offerings and impeccable quality have also made it a beloved destination for New York locals who appreciate a sophisticated dining experience. The seating options, including table service and counter seating, cater to different preferences, with the counter offering a more intimate view of the chefs' masterful work. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for dinner, which is a testament to the restaurant's popularity and demand. This level of planning is a small effort for the reward of a fantastic meal. The restaurant also provides services like catering, perfect for upscale events or corporate gatherings where a touch of Japanese elegance is desired. With its focus on fresh, healthy options and small plates, Sushi Ann provides a dining experience that is both nourishing and deeply satisfying, proving that true quality never goes out of style.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Excellent sushi in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Sushi is more authentic than what most places serve stateside. I will definitely come back next time I'm in New York!
August 01 · Angelina ColbertSushi Ann is one of my favorite higher end Japanese restaurants in New York City. I have dined here on two occasions both times during lunch and had fantastic experiences each visit. While the restaurant has a very minimalist decor on the inside, the sushi and service are both absolutely fantastic.
November 03 · A RVery sophisticated and traditional Japanese restaurant. The interior is well-decorated, a little dim, and quiet. The atmosphere is suitable for a date, meetings, or a lunch with friends. Servers were friendly, attentive, and prompt.I had omakase and the fish was freshhh. It was uni season when I visited, and they had several kinds on hand imported directly from Japan. The octopus was also extremely delicious. They also have a nice selection of wine and drinks! I sat by the sushi bar and the chef was very knowledgeable and friendly. While the price is on the higher end, the quality and service lives up to it.Overall, everything from the people to the food is wonderful. Will definitely come back!
February 12 · LorraineNot recommended, Disappointing, more than overpriced. Lack of good communication and transparency by not providing a decent description of the different Omasake experiences and price schedule. Surprise bill of $260 per person for Omasake and water. The excessive price was not appropriate to the amount of food served, the culinary experience or the ambiance of the restaurant. We left stunned, hungry and wondering the many things we would have been able to do in NYC with that money. My favorite restaurant was Manhatta, a 60th floor impecable restaurant. I could have gone to Manhatta 3 times for the price of 1 night at boring Sushi Ann.
April 14 · Laura CPlease BE CAREFUL what you order because they might serve more expensive menu and charge it.I ordered Sushi Omakase in Dinner counter, but they served Sushi & Sashimi Omakase which is more expensive than what we ordered. We did not check the order because of OMAKASE, but the final price was way higher than we were supposed to pay because they served different food for us.They said we should have mentioned if we had different menu from what we ordered.I agreed we should also have checked each food but STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all of customers keep in mind that every food is correctly served according to your order.
