When dining at Sushi Lin Upper West Side, the Omakase experience is undoubtedly what is most worth choosing. While the a la carte menu offers standard rolls and sashimi, the true magic of this restaurant lies in the chef's tasting menus. As one review put it, "Best value for money omakase I’ve had in the city for sure." The value is particularly evident in the lunch and mini Omakase options, which offer a taste of this elevated experience at a more accessible price point.
The Omakase is praised for its "unique and amazingly excited flavors, plated excellently, and all delicious." Guests can expect a variety of innovative pairings that showcase the chef's skill and creativity. Specific pieces mentioned in reviews include "toro with uni and caviar and gold leaf," "salmon with seared tomato," and "seared foie gras and shrimp." These are the kinds of unique combinations that make the Omakase a standout. The quality of the ingredients is also a major draw, with the fish being "very high quality" and the sushi rice having "character," a detail that seasoned sushi lovers will appreciate.
For those who love uni, a customer review highlights that "they incorporate a lot" of it into the Omakase, and it is of "very high quality." This attention to detail and generosity with premium ingredients further justifies the choice to go for the full tasting menu.
While the Omakase is the main draw, the a la carte menu still holds appeal. The "Tuna Flight" is a great way to experience a variety of tuna preparations, from Akami to Otoro. Rolls like the "King Crab California Roll" and specialty hand rolls such as the "Uni Toro Caviar HR" also offer a taste of luxury. However, based on customer feedback, the Omakase remains the best way to get the full Sushi Lin experience. As one reviewer summarized, "Not the best Omakase I have ever had, but fantastic experience for the price," making it a highly recommended choice for those seeking a high-value, high-quality sushi experience in the city.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best value for money omakase I’ve had in the city for sure. Very unique and amazingly excited flavors, plated excellently, and all delicious. If you enjoy uni, they incorporate a *lot* (3 out of the 10 pieces), and it’s very high quality. Will definitely be coming back here often.
August 13 · Aayush SharmaIt feels like somewhat elevated sushi places are popping up everywhere in the neighborhood, but this one is a welcome addition, with a great Omakase experience at reasonable prices (just $55 for 7 sushi + 1 handroll lunch, as low as $35 for a 5 + 1 mini Omakase dinner to as much as $125 for their full omakase). The sushi was full of novel pairings like salmon with seared tomato, to classic luxe offerings like toro with uni and caviar and gold leaf. The seared foie gras and shrimp was my favorite. The sushi rice had character. Each piece had thoughtful accents like zested yuzu or shaved truffle. Not the best Omakase I have ever had, but fantastic experience for the price. Their regular sushi and sashimi plates were somewhat forgettable, but their lunch Omakase was a great deal. Highly highly recommended.
August 09 · Ben HoLast night, I brought two of my best friends to experience this omakase. My friend used to work in a sushi restaurant and she was full of praise for the freshness and taste of the ingredients at Sushi Lin! For me, the most amazing thing was the taste of the sauce. The Hokkaido shrimp was my favorite tonight! Highest recommendation! I also liked the taste of the tuna belly, and the Japanese Kumamoto oysters were very fresh and sweet! Regarding the dining experience, I would say it was great! The bar and the table are completely different. At the bar, I can feel the enthusiasm and dedication of the chef. And the lighting at the table I think is very suitable for a date. There was a waiter who was a boy, I forgot to ask his name. What impressed me was that he was very sorry that he didn't speak much of my language, but he still tried to introduce the food to me seriously. He was very friendly and respectful to us.
March 19 · noraSushi Lin was great. Came here for the omakase dinner and the experience was amazing. The chef are very talented and passionate about each piece and they are all very friendly as well. The chef named Bill was amazing at his work and presented each piece to me really well. The food is fresh and satisfying. The atmosphere is neat and clean. Great restaurant. Would highly recommend this place
February 22 · ava limThe atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming and the climate is very comfortable. The restaurant is very clean and well-decorated. The chefs are also incredibly talented and clearly passionate about their work. The quality of the seafood is amazing, as its very very fresh. I highly recommend the Omakase as you can get a wide variety of dishes that all taste great without knowing a lot about sushi or seafood beforehand. I also recommend ending off with the pudding for dessert as it’s just sweet enough and won’t stuff you. I would recommend this to everyone and hope to come back many, many times!
