Located on a lively street, this restaurant captures the spirit of a true Mexican street food experience with a modern, trendy twist. It’s an open-air concept eatery that provides a refreshing break from the typical indoor dining scene, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal on a nice day or a lively evening out.
Tacalle is more than just a place to grab a bite; it’s an experience. The atmosphere is consistently described as lively and casual, with good music that encourages a fun, social environment. One customer noted that the space has "enough space to mingle and dance if you'd like," highlighting the energetic and welcoming vibe. The unique walk-up truck for ordering food and drinks adds to the authentic street food feel, creating a memorable and engaging experience for all who visit.
The food is at the heart of the Tacalle experience. The menu, while focused, is built on fresh, flavorful ingredients that truly "hit the spot." The chicken quesadillas, for example, have been praised for being "excellent" with chicken that was "not dry at all" and a "wonderful taste." The guacamole and salsa, served fresh with every dish, also receive high marks. This commitment to quality and freshness is what makes the food both good and reasonably priced, a rare find in this part of New York City.
While the atmosphere is generally highly praised, with its open-air concept and lively music, one customer did find the music a "little too loud," which led to a minor reduction in their overall rating. However, this is a matter of personal preference and doesn't detract from the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the food, service, and overall experience. The friendly and polite staff, as mentioned in a review, also contribute significantly to the positive dining experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cute spot to visit on a nice day! It’s an open air concept eatery with enough space to mingle and dance if you’d like. The music was good and lively. I also really liked the walk up truck to order food and drinks. The food was really good and reasonable priced! The drinks were strong too. Very good for a summer happy hour or catching up with friends. Stop by if you’re in the area!
August 07 · Mitsy D.I was wandering around Midtown looking for a good place to eat and this place caught my eye. The man who took my order was very polite and friendly. I ordered the chicken quesadillas, and they were excellent the chicken was not dry at all and whatever else was in it was just a wonderful taste that really hit the spot. It came with some really good guacamole and salsa everything tasted really fresh. I didn't think the price was that bad for New York. The dining area was very pleasant. I took one star off for atmosphere because I thought the music was just a little too loud. I would definitely recommend this place and return.
April 15 · M. WelshThe beef tacos were soo good! I love the taco truck outdoor vibes, definitely a cool Mexican spot to grab lunch or a drink with friends after work. I tried the chicken quesadilla, beef tacos and esquites which were good but a little spicier than I expected. I also liked that Tacalle had so many Jarrito flavors to choose from. Would definitely come back!
April 12 · New YorkWe recently hosted a team event with over 90 people at Tacalle, and the experience was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly — the service was attentive and professional, even with a large crowd. The drinks were strong and delicious, and the music and atmosphere were just right — fun, vibrant, and perfect for a team celebration. It’s not easy to accommodate a group this size, but Tacalle made it look effortless. Highly recommend this spot for both casual outings and larger events. We’ll absolutely be back!
May 06 · Vanessa L-J (Nessa)Do not go here for tacos. They aren’t good and they can’t follow basic directions such as “no onions”. Cool location but the food is very greasy and truly bad.
