★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had seen lots of reviews online about The Mean Fiddler, so we decided to finally check it out today. We went during the day, and it was pretty quiet and relaxed which I actually enjoyed. I imagine the place gets livelier at night, especially since it seems more of a night spot, but the daytime vibe was very chill. Our server was super friendly and welcoming. The drinks were really good though I did feel like they weren’t very strong in terms of alcohol content. Still, they were well made and tasted great. I also ordered a burrito bowl, and the food was surprisingly good. The atmosphere is fun and laid-back, and I think it would be a great spot to go back to in the evening for a livelier vibe. Since today was a Sunday, I expected it to be a bit busier, but it was very calm. All in all, I had a great experience!!!
July 13 · NannaGreat Vibes, Delicious Food & Exceptional ServiceI had a fantastic night at this place!, a spot that truly delivers on every front. Whether you're coming for the drinks, the food, or the atmosphere, this place hits all the right notes. But what really made the night stand out was the incredible service especially from Alan, the manager. He was warm, welcoming, and on top of everything. You can tell he genuinely cares about guests having a great experience. His attention to detail and hospitality made the night feel personal and polished.
August 08 · jayantchauhan185 jaanu1998The best J1 bar – in the Heart of NYC!The Mean Fiddler is hands down the best Irish bar in New York — no messing. I’ve done three J1s in the city, and this place was always the go to. The tunes, the atmosphere , the crowd were always great.Landed a job here on my last J1 and honestly, I was absolutely buzzing. The staff are super friendly, (proper legends) and the atmosphere is always hopping. Whether you’re just in for a pint, some grub, or a mad one, the vibes are always 90 and your always bound to have a good night. The food is 10/10 , the drinks are spot on, and the whole place just has that deadly Irish buzz. If you’re over in New York, you have to call in. Couldn’t recommend it more. Don’t walk …. RUN to the fiddler.
August 10 · Lisap PurcellAlyssa has been the best bartender ever! I’m originally from Georgia and decided to stop in for a bite along my trip. She has made my experience in the city 10x better!! Please come here and ask for Alyssa . She’s definitely the BIZZNESS
August 22 · Hell KittyWhile enjoying a night out with my friend, i suggested we go to the mean fiddler to get some drinks. Ended up on the woo woo first since we had never been. We entered, sat at the bar with no problems, nobody mentioned our clothes or any dress code. When my friend decided she wanted something sweet we decided to go over and see if the mean fiddler had anything sweet. When we went to the bouncer (bouncer in the second picture) to check our IDs, we got turned away because of slides that we have on. This is not the first time that we had been turned away, the first time we only had a picture of our ID and we were informed those were not accepted. Which we understood and left. Before we continue the story i would like to mention me and my friend are both black women. Back to today, when we went and we got turned away, we left and tried to figure out the next spot. When i glanced back, there are these group of white girls who had on SLIDES and every single one of them showed a PICTURE ID.When my friend went to the bouncer to ask why they were let in and not us, he was stumbling over his words and couldn’t give us a clear answer but did say something of them working there?? The questions he was asking them was not the questions you ask your coworkers. It’s the question you ask any visiting customer. He also was telling one of his white coworker who apparently is the Owner ( I think his name is Pat) of the establishment that we must hate black men???Anyways we tried to go back to the woo woo to speak to someone because it was clear the bouncer had an issue with us and when we tried buzzing in, they had denied us access.Once the security guy (guy from first picture) from the woo woo came out he was also confused on what the issue was and went to speak to someone. Because again we had caused no issue, got a drink, tipped the bartender and left even making jokes on how we will be back.Once he spoke to the mangers which ended up being the bouncer from the from the mean fiddler. He basically started acting weird and not letting us speak and just said that he’s following his mangers word and we aren’t allowed back in. He also stated how if we were men then this would have been resolved quickly but we are pretty girls. I’m sure he meant that he would have resolved the issue with violence… I honestly don’t know what he was trying to say with that. It’s crazy how this establishment and the bouncer for the mean fiddler is so willing to bend the rules and policies for your white customers. The main issue isn’t the policies they have but bending them to only apply to black peoples apparently. If you’re a POC avoid this place like the plague. It’s obvious we are not the demographics they are looking for.
