The Old Mohawk Reviews
Cute little place in German village. Was not a huge fan of the crab stuffed tots but my boyfriend said the chicken nachos were probably the best he has ever had anywhere. If you visit German village, a great spot to stop for a drink and an app!
Jul 13, 2025 · Ashley WrightStopped in because my mother saw turtle soup on the menu and had to try it. Haven't had any since I was a kid and it was made from a local catch. I stopped in, was welcomed quickly, and my order was made to go. I bought a bowl to go and it was just a bit different than vegetable soup and very good. It was a bit smaller portion than I hoped but it was worth the unusual buy, and I don't find it often. I recommend a stop and will be back to try it again and some more items. Many people were enjoying the restaurant when I stopped in and it is a nice little place to stop.
Mar 02, 2025 · Kevin WiseThe Old Mohawk is a classic spot with great food and drinks. The staff is helpful. Sometimes, they can be a little dry if you're not a frequent visitor. The food is great. A little on the pricier side from what you get but they are quality items that you typically couldn't get other restaurants. I ordered the meatloaf dinner with a beer and it was delicious and hearty. Good portions. Meatloaf was tough and the green beans were a mushy so be aware of that.Overall, this is a good place.Thanks.
Mar 23, 2025 · Xavier CaseyFirst time visit, and I decided to try something that sounded unique. A house specialty: Mother Mohawk a grilled roast beef and homemade chicken salad, topped with swiss cheese, on marble rye bread. Served with a side of caraway horseradish sauce. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. But I was expecting a sum greater than its parts moment. But it was just its parts. Adding chicken salad to a roast beef sandwich didn’t really elevate anything. And if I order a grilled sandwich at a diner/bar I want the thing to be buttered and GRILLED. Pressed a bit and heated through. I don’t want my bread a bit toasted. I can’t replicate what a well used grill top can do to a sandwich at home. So I have expectations when I am at a restaurant that should be able to deliver. And the chicken salad wasn’t heated through. I liked all the components, but they weren’t effectively married. I think I could have been happier with most of the menu.
Apr 06, 2025 · David TriselThis old tavern has quite the history. It was near where my friend and I were staying in German Village area, and we decided to check it out. The items we had were really good. Shout out for the Mother Mohawk, which is a sandwich that sounds strange, but it was quite delicious. Roast beef, chicken salad, Swiss cheese, on rye bread. Carroway horseradish comes in the side, and I really enjoyed it on the sandwich. It is known for its turtle soup, but I ordered pablano white cheddar soup and was pleased. Good service, and you can tell it is a favorite of locals.
