Wing's Introduce
In the vast and ever-evolving landscape of Columbus, Ohio's dining scene, local Chinese restaurants have long been a staple for a quick meal or a family dinner. Wing's, located at 2801 E Main St, is one of those places that has been part of the community for some time. However, as any local knows, not all dining experiences are created equal, and it is essential to have an honest and factual understanding of what a restaurant offers. This article is a detailed look at Wing's, drawing directly from the experiences and opinions of real customers. We aim to provide a transparent overview to help our fellow residents make an informed decision about where to spend their money and their time. A local restaurant's reputation is built on the day-to-day interactions and the quality of the food and service it provides, and we believe it's important to share the full picture, both positive and negative. The Chinese food market in Columbus is incredibly competitive, with a wide variety of options available to diners. This makes it even more crucial to understand the unique characteristics of each establishment. Wing's has its own history and place within the community, and its atmosphere and menu reflect a traditional style that some may appreciate, while others may find it wanting. This piece will delve into these nuances, giving you the information you need to decide if this particular spot is the right choice for your next Chinese food craving.
Based on customer reviews, the food and service at Wing's appear to be a mixed bag, with strong opinions on both sides. One review provided a stark warning, calling the food "inedible" and describing a poor experience with the General Tso's chicken, which was noted for being "stringy and hard." The same customer mentioned that the rice had a "crunch to it" and that the sauce was "gross," ultimately being unable to finish the meal. This is a significant point of concern for anyone looking for a quality dining experience. On the other hand, another review offered a more balanced perspective, rating the food and service as "good+." This customer did note that the food was "a little on the salty side" but seemed to appreciate the traditional decor and lighting, which they said was what you "would expect in an older traditional Chinese restaurant." They also mentioned that the chicken lettuce wraps were "good, but different," preferring a different preparation style. This contrast in reviews is important for a local to consider. It suggests that the experience at Wing's may be inconsistent, with some visits being more satisfying than others. The negative feedback, particularly about the quality of the chicken and the texture of the rice, points to potential issues with preparation and freshness. Meanwhile, the more positive feedback highlights a traditional, no-frills Chinese food experience that some customers may find appealing. The traditional aesthetic could be a highlight for those who are looking for a classic, old-school feel. This dichotomy is what makes an honest, fact-based overview so critical for locals who value their dining choices. It allows you to weigh the potential risks and rewards before placing an order. The provided feedback gives a clear window into the experiences of real people, which is far more valuable than a generic, overly promotional description.
The Wing's restaurant is located at 2801 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43209. This address places it in a well-traveled part of the city, making it a familiar landmark for many residents in the east and southeast areas of Columbus. Its position on a major street provides easy access by car. For those who are commuting or running errands in the area, it can be a convenient place to stop for a quick lunch or to pick up dinner on the way home. The accessibility of the location is a definite advantage, and it likely contributes to its long-standing presence in the community. As with many businesses on main thoroughfares, parking can be a consideration, but the restaurant's specific location may offer more convenient options than a downtown spot. The presence of other businesses in the vicinity also makes it a practical choice for those who are already in the neighborhood. For locals who are used to navigating the E Main St corridor, finding the restaurant should be straightforward. The building itself, as noted in a review, has a traditional feel, which might appeal to those seeking a classic, established vibe rather than a modern, trendy one. This physical accessibility and familiar setting are key factors for many residents when choosing a dining option. While the food and service may have inconsistent reviews, the location itself remains a practical choice for a specific segment of the local population who frequent this part of town. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Columbus locals, Wing's on E Main St represents a particular type of dining experience. It's a place rooted in a traditional, older style of Chinese American food that has been a part of the community for a long time. For some residents, the classic decor and long-standing presence are part of its charm. The restaurant's convenience on a major road and its availability for both dine-in and takeout make it a practical option for a quick and familiar meal. However, it is crucial for locals to be aware of the mixed reviews regarding food quality and consistency. While some may find the food to be perfectly acceptable or even "good," others have had less positive experiences, citing issues with freshness and preparation. This makes Wing's a suitable choice for those who appreciate the nostalgic feel of a traditional Chinese restaurant and are willing to take a chance on a potentially inconsistent but potentially satisfying meal. It may not be the best choice for those who prioritize a consistently high-quality, gourmet experience. Ultimately, the decision to visit Wing's is a personal one, and this article provides the factual, local perspective needed to make that choice. By considering the feedback from fellow Columbus residents, you can set your expectations accordingly and decide if Wing's is the right spot for your next Chinese food craving. Its place in the community is undeniable, but so are the varied experiences of its patrons.

Wing's Reviews
The food is inedible… general tsos chicken was the “chicken” that they use for what seems like sweet and sour chicken and it’s stringy and hard. The sauce was gross as well. The rice literally has a crunch to it. Literally couldn’t even finish the food I paid for. Take this as your warning
Apr 23, 2025 · TaylorFood and service good+. Food a little on the salty side. Traditional decor and lighting that you’d expect in an older traditional Chinese restaurant. Last two pics of the chicken lettuce wraps, good, but different than other restaurants (I prefer diced with water chestnuts and a darker sauce) - the one thing we ordered I would not get again.
Jun 06, 2023 · Tiffany MorisueThis is the second time we got takeout in last few months. The first time we got shrimp pad Thai and Mongolian beef. The pad Thai noodles were so overcooked and stuck together and the beef had terrible flavor. This time we had chicken wings which were hard and dry with absolutely no flavor. The pot stickers were supposed to be pan fried but they were deep fried. I got fried rice with my shrimp egg foo young. The rice was hard and had no flavor whatsoever. The gravy was also flavorless. Extremely disappointing and will never go back. We wasted our money cause we couldn’t eat it. Don’t waste your time and money on this place. Worst takeout we’ve ever had from anywhere.
Jun 15, 2025 · Roland RamseyWing’s never disappoints. From their eclectic design to phenomenal food, would wouldn’t you continue coming back?Hands down. The best spring rolls in Columbus. So many food options with many vegetarian options. Plus at a really good price!Cheers!
Dec 29, 2023 · CJ BlessingIt’s no wonder that Wing’s has been open for as long as I can remember (my whole lifetime, and yet I’ve never been). When you walk in, it’s like an American Chinese version of Cheers “where everyone knows your name”, except with typical red and gold Chinese decor 😅 It was obvious that they have regulars who frequent here (and they know each other’s names and families too!)Menu is typical favorite Chinese dishes. The Wor Su Gai was the best I’ve had in a long time; However, the first batch I had to return to the kitchen and ask for another because the batter was crispy, but the chicken was dry and overcooked. They apologized and replaced it promptly with a piping hot dish of much more tender inside-crispy outside chicken. Unimpressed with the Mongolian beef, so I did not take a picture. Extensive alcohol menu, especially scotch and whiskey, but we didn’t get any drinks from the bar.All in all, long-standing cozy Chinese restaurant good for dinner on an unusually rainy, soggy day in Columbus.
