June 15 · Duyen KyZanti was a mixed bag. Service was truly excellent. Attentive wait and support staff kept our budget friendly tap water filled at all times and brought a taster of the alternative cocktail selection when I struggled to decide.The outdoor space was comfortable even in this heat. Misters and fans provided the cooling effect, the benches and chairs were spacious, the colors soothing and the noise level allowed comfortable conversation at our table. My son noted the interior was very dark, and lighting almost nonexistent in the toilets, so be prepared with your cell phone flashlight.The Hallibut alla Sarda wonderfully filled my desire for mostly protein. The only flaw that it should be served inclusive of a spoon so the subtle broth can be enjoyed without borrowing pizza crust from my neighbor!The pizzas and the mussels were somewhat disappointing. The tomato (pomodoro) sauce tasted canned almost. I would suggest further reduction, or an alternative variety of tomato. They might be using hydroponically grown tomatoes, but the flavor is definitely lacking. This is the reason for the four stars.The pizza crust had a very nice texture, and was a sour dough Neapolitan style. The dough was quite astringent in flavor, indication a very new culture. It was almost unpleasant, I favor a more mature starter. If the sauce had been richer, this trait would have seemed more intentional to the flavor profile.So, four stars! Because these may be the mark of a chef with different tastes from my own. I won’t return, but the restaurant clearly has a following. I wish them bon appetite.
