Sal and Carmine Pizza Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I came here. I had looked at this place online to find a nice spot to eat with a friend to celebrate something. I had seen a lot of high rated reviews, many saying how this was “a rather iconic place in the upper west side,” and had high expectations for this place, but didn’t have the best experience. The place felt rather small and crammed, with only a few places to sit. Besides that, the food didn’t look the most appetizing. It was alright, but I had expected better. I’d probably look somewhere else for good pizza.
July 25 · Sarai ATried the Margherita - the dough was really good, but the sauce tasted like plain tomato paste, too strong and unbalanced. A bit disappointing overall.
August 26 · Shachar AshkenaziSal and Carmine’s on the Upper West Side is a true gem for pizza lovers! I ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza was generously topped with a rich, flavorful sauce that perfectly complemented the savory toppings. The crust had just the right amount of crispiness—light and airy but still with that satisfying crunch. What makes this place even better are the fair prices, especially for the PIZZA SIZE you’re getting. If you’re in the neighborhood and craving an authentic New York slice, Sal and Carmine’s is definitely worth a visit! Also! The place boasts a huge interior space and a lot of seating too!
October 21 · Arthur TrusovSal & Carmine Pizza always hits the spot! To me, their pizza is underrated (which I don't mind because that means fewer people haha). Compared to all of the pizzerias in the neighborhood that sell *street pizza* they have the best. The sauce is a perfect balance of sweetness with savory. You can tell that they use fresh mozzarella. The crust is not too thick and not too thin either. If you want that crunch, ask them to heat your slice for a bit longer than usual. My bf and I always stop by to chat with the pizza maker and cashier. Both are great guys. We've never had a bad experience or a bad slice/pie. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by to get a slice. You won't regret it. P.S. They're selling icees for a dollar (2 big scoops) you can't beat that deal, especially with this heat.
July 16 · Julie VI dont write reviews like never but i had to this time. This pizza is SOOOO AMAZING. I am so funny about pizza. I would say I love Pasty's but this is too good not to put on the top tiers of must eats. I had their Red Peppers and Sauteed Onion Slice, and I came back the next day to have it again. Then I had their Eggplant one which looked delicious. I'm a sauce and crust girlie and I will say you don't need to put any of the seasoning because it tastes fine without it. I tried it the second time without putting my usually garlic and oregano, perfect still. The pizza looks better then what you think it may look like.
