What is worth choosing
When in New York, choosing Shake Shack Morningside Heights is a decision to experience a taste of a true city institution. The primary reason to visit is undoubtedly the burgers. While some might find the price a bit steep for the portion size, the consensus among many patrons is that the quality and flavor are worth the cost. The combination of the juicy, perfectly cooked Angus beef patty and the soft, sweet potato bun creates a unique and craveable experience that sets it apart from competitors. The ShackBurger is the flagship item for a reason, but the variety of options, including the spicy SmokeShack, ensures that there is a burger for every preference.
Beyond the burgers, the sides and desserts are a major draw. The crinkle-cut fries, while a point of debate for some, are undeniably crispy and a classic pairing. The option to add cheese makes them an even more indulgent treat. The shakes and frozen custard are a must-try, with their rich and creamy texture providing a perfect finish to the meal. The Shack Stack, which combines a beef patty with a 'Shroom Burger, is a perfect choice for those who want to indulge in the best of both worlds. The fast service and efficient ordering process, often done through kiosks, make it a great spot for a quick bite during a busy day. Finally, the inclusive and friendly atmosphere makes it a place where you can feel comfortable and welcomed, whether you're a local or a tourist. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Shake Shack is more than just a burger joint, it's a New York City institution with a history that has become nearly mythical over the years. Starting as a humble hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in 2001, Shake Shack quickly became a local favorite, evolving into a permanent kiosk in 2004.During my multiple visits, I tried several of their iconic burgers, from the Smoky Classic BBQ to Carolina BBQ with fried pickles (I had to try them!) to the flagship ShackBurger and the SmokeShack with Angus beef and delicious cherry peppers. The first thing that stood out was the potato bun, sweet, soft, flavorful, and perfectly complementing the juicy beef patty inside, it adds a layer of sweetness to every bite and the meat is cooked to perfection. The quality and taste make it worth the splurge. The burger experience it’s aimed for lovers and it is distinctly satisfying. The price may feel a bit steep for the portion size, I personally have two burgers at a time to fill my stomach there when I’m hungry and when compared to other burger options in the city Shake Shack doesn’t excels at huge portions but their 116th Street location is a great spot to grab a bite, easy to reach with the subway, a bit expensive but it's definitely worth a visit. If you’re in New York it’s a must try!
August 21 · Ivan OttavianHot dog was a waste of time. Had better dogs at a movie theater. SS didn't even have pickle relish, what's up with that? Placed my order at a kiosk, got all the way to payment and it said, "card reader disconnected" and I had to begin again on another terminal. Bad UX. If fast food isn't fast, or good, what's the point?I sat at a table while I waited, and was made to move by a fellow who needed to empty the adjacent trash bin. Ugh.The fries were good though, I'll give you that.
July 30 · Paul GarrityMy only complaint is the high chairs. Why do they make places with those? Obviously, that's nothing the staff can do anything about. Everything else was great. Also, it's better lit than most shake shacks I've been to. Chances are, next time I'll get 2 shack burgers and no fries. I really don't like shake shack fries unless there's cheese and stuff but that's just me.
April 29 · john gerityExtremely slow service today. I must have seen 15-20 orders fulfilled before mine. It seemed to receive no consideration. It was also largely room temperature by the time I received it. Chicken tasted good, but bun was a bit compressed.
November 01 · DavidCame here one night to pick up an Ubereats order one night and the store was basically dead. I literally watched as a **FULL HOUSE** of employees took turns staring at me standing at the counter looking around at them. Most of them seemed to be socializing as there wasn't really much going on in the store. I even called out to one of the guys passing by as he was coming from the carryout/drive through window, and he literally ignored me. After about 40 seconds of an assortment of stares, a young woman from all the way in the back of the store eventually came around to hand me the order that was waiting for me.I've been delivering for Uber for a few years now in my free time, with well over 1500 hours delivering easily, and I've literally never seen anything like that in my life. Poor customer service is one thing, but an entire fleet of employees hanging out while a customer is at the counter is a whole new level of incompetence, laziness, and stupidity. BY FAR this the most ridiculous, bizarre and egregious thing I've ever experienced from any store, whether it's a franchise or a mom & pop. Absolutely unreal. The only thing I can possibly think of, was their arrangement is so strict, inflexible, and stupid, that nobody's allowed to move from their stations, even to help a customer, if they aren't explicitly assigned to it... which is understandable to a degree, but in this case it was just stupid and utterly disrespectful.
