Taikun Sushi Introduce
In the world of New York City's culinary scene, where exceptional dining is a given, some experiences rise above the rest. Taikun Sushi, located in the heart of the Lower East Side, is one such place. This Japanese restaurant specializes in omakase, a unique and highly personal dining style where you entrust the chef with your entire meal. The term "omakase" translates to "I leave it up to you," and at Taikun, this philosophy is executed with masterful skill and a deep respect for the craft. The result is a simple, uncomplicated, and deeply satisfying culinary journey that focuses on the pristine quality of the fish and the harmony of flavors.
Taikun Sushi is not just a place to eat; it is an intimate and engaging experience. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1One of the best omakases I've tried. The flavors go perfectly together, simple and uncomplicated. The fish was fresh and portions are great. Our host and chef were friendly and thoroughly explained everything, their service is on point. I recommend the sake pairing. The sakes go so well with the fish. The flavor of everything is fantastic. I love that they escort you into the speakeasy bar for your last course and you can hang out there for as long as you like and get more drinks.. because what do people like to do after dinner? Find a bar to hang out in of course. Genius. The party next to us was already there for their second? time. I'll definitely be doing the same!
May 14 · anna kExcellent food, drink, and service. We came here for my partner’s birthday and she had the most perfect time. Thank you for everything. We will be back!
July 15 · Caleb HaddadLoved the omakase experience at Taikun Sushi. The chef and the waiter were lovely. Everything that we tried was luscious - and when you thought it couldn’t get better, it did. It’s a small venue so enjoy the intimate experience chatting with the chef and the waiter. Bonus - their impressive Japanese whiskey selection.
December 24 · Arzu GeybullaThis Taikun Sushi gives you exactly what its name suggests. The taste experience is remarkable. I've never been disappointed by what I've ordered and they give you just enough. Workers here always display welcoming attitudes. We're excited to explore more food options.
August 18 · do buiWith so-called Omakase joints popping up on every other corner in New York City, it was a pleasure to find a reasonably priced high-quality dinner with excellent fish, well prepared by the friendly sushi, chef, Feri. He’s a bit shy at first, just going about his business, but if you engage with him a little bit, he is quite charming. The counter seats only six people and is tucked away in a small corner of the gray lady restaurant, with a separate entrance. The Omakase menu follows a fairly standard progression with all of the familiar fish and good quality rice. The fish are all imported from Japan and I would say overall the quality was excellent. There was some interesting takes on the traditional preparation, such as adding olive oil, salt or marinating the Ikura in a sake and soy sauce marinade. While some of these techniques are nontraditional, I have to say that they worked really well and we both loved them.I opted for the $55 sake pairing, which came with three excellent glasses of sake, and one glass of an excellent California Zinfandel. The sakes were all great and I am a fan of the Zin but I have to say I probably would have preferred another glass of sake because I didn’t think the wine was a very good choice for the fish. They chose to pair these Zinfandel with the oily fish, which makes sense intellectually. I just wasn’t feeling it. However, this was really the only constructive criticism I could offer of the entire meal and I think the beverage pairing was a good value at the $55 price point.Great dinner, good value, excellent drinks… What more do you want? We will be back!
